Only some members of the Lions' '62 team which beat the 10-0 Packers on Thanksgiving Day like Alex Karras, Mike Lucci, Night Train Lane, etc.

I am hoping history will not repeat itself!

True--but they almost always do that on the road.
I have a bad feeling about this one, and so to appease the Woof Gods, someone's gotta pick the Honolulu Blues. So, here goes...

Gotta go with...

I would not be surprised if Lions won since it is a tough turkey game but I still pick Packers.

I don't think they've got the horses, and we win by at least 10. Unlike the short week we went to Denver with, both teams get hit by that this time.

This games becomes a lot less meaningful after their loss to the Giants, who did a number on them. And they did it the way I think we will - through the air, with a bit of running when needed, and some sacks from the D. I'm guessing that game tape is on continuous loop in the film room this week.

Pack 30
Lions 20

I have trouble with that a little, because I think we score 30, but don't see the Lions getting 20. But I can't bring myself to think we'll beat them by 2tds.

We need to put teams away in the 3rd and get our HOF QB off the field. We failed to do so against Carolina and that is one thing I want to see from this team: Game over by the 4th.

Packers 26
Lions 14

I was at my Packer hangout place last Sunday and while the Packer game was going on, there were a couple of TV's at the bar that had the Lions/Giants game on and it looked brutal for both teams. I'm guessing the Packers will get a better shot from them than the one they gave the Giants, but if the Lions play no better against the Packers, and we know we are better offensively than the Giants, then we should win.

Another historical trap game!

1962 - The famed "grudge match" saw the Lions' "Fearsome Foursome" (DE Darris McCord, DT Alex Karras, DT Roger Brown and DE Sam Williams) sacked Packers QB Bart Starr 11 times for 110 yards in a 26-14 Detroit destruction of Green Bay. The Packers were 10-0 coming into the game and the Lions' win avenged a 9-7 last-second Green Bay win earlier in the season. It was the only loss of the season for the Packers, who went on to claim the World Championship.

If the Pack wins this game, they will tie the 1962 Packers with a 10-1 record after Thanksgiving, and we will have avenged the loss in '62 and avoided the historical trap game.

I dunno. We were up 28-10 at the beginning of the fourth. Certainly that's enough of a lead if they wanted to pull Favre.

That's what I thought, but Carolina scored a TD just when I thought we'd see ARod to finish the game.

Tough game to call, for me at least. I'd easily say Green Bay but Detroit seems to have a monster game about every third and they seem to play well at home on Turkey day. Probably Green Bay by 10.

I'm sorry - I've seen this before: Lions come out way, way pumped up, to show the world they're not the same old Lions. They jump out to a quick lead - ten points, maybe two touchdowns - and the Pack never can quite catch up.

Not really. We had the chance to be up possibly 35-10 in the third and 31-10 if Crosby would have hit the FG. Once you are up by three TDs, then you can be comfortable taking your QB out. Three scores in the 4th isn't out of the question for most teams, even the Lions. When we have had the opportunity to put a team away in the third, we didn't.

Hmmm, one of the top ranked passing attacks versus one of the worst passing defenses?

The only way we lose this game is with a turnover margin of -4 or greater.

So, unless we pull a Cowboys vs. Bills...

There is no way we lose this game. We match up so good with these guys. They have a terrible pass defense, Favre will "carve" them up. They won't run for more than 75 total yards, leaving the unmoveable Kitna to be sacked at least 6 times by our D line. Woodson, Harris, and Co. have their work cut out for them against these huge, physical receivers, I'm excited to see how they do, because it is a prelude to how they will do against TO, next week, and in the NFC Championship game. So, I hope they shut them down, or at least minimize their success. If they continuously beat us, we are screwed against the Boys and TO. This is the matchup for us all to watch, if our great corners can beat them up on the line of scrimmage and throw off their routes so we can get to their statue QB. Cuz, Dallas only has one strong, huge receiver, but they have a very mobile QB that extends the play and can get away from our line. Can't wait for the game tomorrow.

Is anyone out there actually old enough to remember the 62 game?
Bart got sacked so much the o linemen later ruefully joked they had invented the "Lookout Block".
They would just shout out "Look out, Bart!" at the snap.
The game was a very curious case of a superior team getting their lunch handed to them by an inferior team jacked up beyond belief.
Alex Karras and Joe Schmidt were unstoppable.

Not old enough but I did find an interesting tidbit about that game in a book I just read by Fuzzy Thurston. Thurston had a horrible fever or flu that day and admitted he played the worse game of his career, probably shouldn't have been out there in his condition. He apologized for his performance after the game.

Still probably wouldn't have changed the outcome but it couldn't have helped having him so sick. Nine sacks was so out of character for that line and this explains some of the poor performance.

Still, Lions had a great front four and came out possessed.

I hate to date myself but yes, I am old enough to remember that pitiful game.

The Packers marched into Detroit at 10-0 and the Lions completely dominated the Packers. I think Starr was sacked a dozen times by the likes of Alex Karras and Mike Lucci.
