Baby moose 12 hours old - Born in the middle of downtown Naubinway, Mi.

August 3, 2007

n my 33 years in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I have never seen a newborn baby moose. This one was not even a half mile from our house. The mother picked a small quiet neighbor and had her baby in the front yard just off of US 2,at 5:30 am. Allen and I were out bike riding when we came upon the pair. The lady across the street from this house told us she saw it being born. We saw them at 5:30 PM. So the little one was 12 hours old. What an awesome place we live in to see such a site.

I was thinking that too, OPF. I'm guessing they aren't using that front door for the time being. Better not order a pizza. The pizza man might not see mama moose in the dark, and SURPRISE!!! I wonder what the mail carrier is doing with their mail.

I have a story along those lines...almost was attacked by a whitetail doe this spring when my dog and I snuck in too close for comfort to her and her fawn.

All this while carrying a bottle of beer in one hand and a lit cigar in the other. Not to mention the fact that I was in beach sandals and shorts.

I thought I was dead for a minute there and my brother-in-law was in my yard just laughing his head off.

I'm calling PHOTOSHOP on these. The position of the newborn in the first pic is off, and the shadowing is non-existant, when even that little green flowerpot in the background is throwing a little shadow. Given the general brightness of the pictures, the complete lack of ground shadow is strange at best, hokey at worst. The edges of the animals are also suspect.

Keep in mind what the scene of a large animal birth looks like as well - this is not it by a longshot. I grew up on a horse farm. Large animals don't pop out their moma's vaginal canal all fluffy and cute and without a certain amount of ancillary messiness of tissue and blood and other "stuff."

Someone spent some time on this, but it looks like shit if you take a second look. Fucking Michigan queer-bags gotta try to feel important about something I suppose.

It doesn't take a bong to think that a 1200 animal should cast a shadow and not just shoot a fluffy little 50 pound baby out it's wazoo without even a hint of blood or afterbirth or amniotic fluid.

But if you'd rather believe that half ton creatures don't block light or make any mess when they give birth 3 feet outside someone's front door, go right on ahead. And pass the bong when you're through cuz you must be smoking something good.

After all of 1 minute of research it appears these pictures have been circulating since summer, claiming different birth locations. Alaska, Vermont, Maine, Michigan. Where there's smoke there's fire. Even bong smoke.
