Texans coach Gary Kubiak says that if Ahman Green (knee) does not practice this week, he will likely be placed on injured reserve.

"I think we’re definitely at a week this week where the decision or the process needs to be sped up," said Kubiak. This could conceivably be Green's final week in a Texans uniform if he can't show he's ready to contribute.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling. Wait, that's the Texans problem now.

So did Ted Thompson make the right decision?

Who would you rather have running the rock, Ahman Green or Ryan Grant?

I'll even give you a healthy Ahman Green.

So, make your choice!

Mine? Ryan Grant!

If they were both Grant's age and healthy, then what would you say?

Wait, wait, wait!!! What if they were both the same age and Green suddenly gain a half second in the 40 and Grant lost a half second in the 40. What would you say then?!!! Or Grant's left leg was three inches longer than his right--yeah! That's the ticket.

Agreed....at least from what I've seen. Green is pretty beat up at this stage of his career. Good move by TT, although I didn't think so at the time.

TT seems to do that a lot. Makes good moves that no one thinks are good at the time...

Then I'd say we take Eric Dickerson at Grant's age and healthy.

Of course he did...at least in terms of Ahman. You can't pay an aging RB that kind of coin. The best franchises in the NFL let guys go a year too early rather than a year too late. In Ahman's case, it looks like the Packers were actually spot on as to when they decided to part ways.

I'm just glad Ahman got paid.

TT made the right decision with what Ahman wanted to get paid. I don't think it would have been bad to keep him at what we wanted to pay him.

I still think we should have drafted Barry Sanders.

Or Deon Sanders.

Does the way compensatory picks are rewarded depend on performance? So does Green being injured so much of this season mean that we will get a worse bonus pick?

I know the compensatory pick formula is a tightly guarded secret, but I think this much is known, right?

I think a good deal of it is performance, but I think past performance has to play in a little as well. We got a fifth rounder for Rivera...and he didn't exactly light it up when he went to Dallas. I would think that is roughly what we would get for Green.

I think part of it is the size of contract and the other part is performance with new team.

TT would have re-signed Green if Houston didn't offer him the ranch (pun intended).

I bet Houston wishes they could take that offer back now. Same way Dallas wishes they didn't spend all that money on Rivera.
