Well, Michele's streak has come to an end, so, I thought I'd try and start my own streak!

I hope I am still starting this thread in September next year!!

Woo hoo....go Tar!!!

THIS is the game we should have chosen as the posters game. Well, it would have been a game where all of us would have been able to get tix at least. Even brokers said in yesterdays paper that they were selling most tix at face value. People are saving their $$ for the playoff game(s) here.

Lets win and clinch the NFCN today !!

I don't watch a whole lot of AFC but every time I've tuned into a game, it's in high def. Probably doesn't help your question!

CBS is ultra cheap and only shows some games each week in high def. I think FOX does all the games high def.

edit: Looks like it's high def.

Hi-def, low-def, no-def...I don't care. I think this one's actually going to be on tv here in metro Detroit today. I believe it's the CBS game. I can flip between this one and the Detroit game. And I can do what I always do - hope for a great Packer win, and a terrible Detroit loss.

I think my deep dislike of the Lions goes way back to '91, when the Lions had that one good year, with Barry Sanders and Chris Spielman and all. People who knew I was a Packers fan were freakin' ruthless with me, and were really shamelessly over-the-top about how great the Lions were. I got hammered all the time, tormented about how lousy the Pack was, and the braggadoccio from the Lions fans was torrential.

Apparently that experience scarred me. Fortunately, the Lions themselves helped me heal by getting their asses handed to them, stuffed with the member of the Washington Redskins, in the playoffs that year. And they've sucked ever since.

I'm very excited because they're showing this game in southern West Virginia! Usually I get crappy Eagles, Steelers, or Redskins games. GO PACK GO!!!!

Quick prediction....Packers 24 Raiders 13.....Favre 235 yards, 2 TD 0 INT, Grant 155 yards, 1 TD

The Packers won close games against all the other AFC west teams(Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs) this year. I don't see this being any different.

I personally think they'll come out a bit energized today. 3 games in how many days, now they got a "little" break, and they are coming back home. Crowd will be ready to go. I think they'll come out hot...and I think Brett will come out hot. BUT...McCarthy has to stick to what has won us games, not bomb after bomb.

People forget how putrid Lion fans can be. They only come out every 12 years or so. The thing that gets me is their lack of football knowlege. ?They are generallt jusy a bunch of razz artists.

McCarthy didn't call bomb after bomb. He wanted to stretch out the Dallas defense and make them cover the whole field. Favre made the decision every time to bomb it up. MM didn't tell him to bomb it up no matter what. He said take it if it's there. Brett tried to take it and it wasn't there (neither in protection nor in the coverages he was seeing). MM can't predict the defense. He calls the play and Brett has to take advantage of what is there when the play develops. That was all on Brett IMO.

RashanGary
12-09-2007, 10:34 AM
And for the record, MM should continue to call deep balls and Brett should check the fuck out of it if he sees 2 deep safety's like he did in Dallas. INstead Brett went out into cover 2 and threw it right to a safety. That is just stupid football. I don't care if one of the WR's is running deep on the playcall, you don't have to throw it there when you know the defense isn't giving it. Maybe he doesn't know, and that is part of his record interception legacy. Deep balls change the game and they make the defense respect you. It's a part of every great offense. It's up to the QB to know when it's there and when to check it down. The playcaller can't call scared because he thinks is QB is jsut going to chuck it up no matter what. AT that point, you get a new QB.

Badgepack

Let's see if we can get the run game going early, and let's make sure we don't use the big 5, keep someone back to protect banged up Favre. He's the only QB we have right now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Bay Packers
Inactives: QB Aaron Rodgers, TE Bubba Franks, WR Shaun Bodiford, RB Brandon Jackson, LB Tracy White, G Allen Barbre, DT Daniel Muir, DT Johnny Jolly.

Fantasy take: QB Brett Favre is active and will start against Oakland. RB Craig Nall is second on the depth chart. CB Charles Woodson is active, which helps the value of the Green Bay defense.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oakland Raiders
Inactives: QB JaMarcus Russell (3rd QB), QB Daunte Culpepper, RB Dominic Rhodes, CB John Bowie, C Jake Grove, T Mario Henderson, DT Josh Shaw.

Fantasy take: QB Josh McCown is active and will start in Green Bay. WRs Ronald Curry and Jerry Porter are active and will start.

i'm listening to the game on fieldpass, and I have to say that the NFL commercials are less annoying than the "long bouts of silence" that used to break up the game action. Especially since the guy would often forget to hit the button to turn the stream back on, so suddenly pastoral silence would be interrupted by Larry McCarren yelling about something. At least I can tune out the noise, the silence lures you in and puts you in a lull before surprising you with more sudden football.

Well, Favre has had an odd week with little practice and a lot of unusual responsiblities (make a wish/sportsman of the year). Athletes swear by routine. Hopefully Favre gets in a little groove here. Even if he doesn't, the defense is playing really well so this game can be had even without a sharp Brett Favre.

Oh no, not at all. I just think he isn't looking sharp at all with his throws. He admitted he has numbness in two fingers on his throwing hand. It screws up your touch I would guess. grant! whodathunkit? what a great pick up he's been.

It's sort of amazing the value that Ted Thompson got out of the sixth round in one calendar year. We got three starters via four 6th round picks and Desmond Bishop looks just fine on Special Teams. That sort of value from a late round is unheard of, isn't it?

That 3rd and short where we just punched it down their throat was nice. The TD was nice too because they had their big boys in and we just overpowered them.

These are very good signs heading down the stretch run. If this team develops a balanced run game and cleans up the mistakes, they have a legit chance.
