The possibility of NE gaining the #2 pick is evidence of that. Stupid 49ers.

Yeah, what exactly were they doing going for broke this year? They were guzzling their own Kool-Aid after going 7-9 last year. I wonder if Scott Paoli had them figured for a worse finish this year and was trying to hide the saliva that was forming in his mouth when the Niners made the offer to take NE's #28 and get OT Joe Staley and give up the Niners #1 pick next season's number. Heck, Paoli had already drafted Brandon Merriweather at #24, thanks to the trade that sent Deion Branch to Seattle (also a smart move by Paoli). Thanks to Mike Nolan's over-exuberance about this year's team and his willingness to give up the 2008 first round pick for a guy drafted late in the first round this year, N.E. will have a top 5, possibly top 3 pick. But wait, there's more. The Niners gave up pick #110 last year (a 4th rounder) that they used to trade to Oakland for Randy Moss and scoop the Packers several picks later in the 4th. Scott Paoli seems to know what he's doing, which is one reason they are where they are, and San Fran is a bottom feeder, and Mike Nolan is probably looking at getting the axe.

Last year the Packers led the NFL in the MOST dropped passes.

As of a couple of weeks ago, the Packers led the NFL in the FEWEST dropped passes!

That is a huge turnaround and a factor in the Packers' success this year.

Packers have only given up 4 rushing TDs all season.

Last time they gave up less than 10 was in 2000.

The other stat that I know is improved from last year is red zone efficiency. That was one complaint coming into this year. Does anyone know how much that has improved from last year to this year?

Does anyone know how much that has improved from last year to this year?I dont know man. Seems like most of the TDs have come on big plays. Not saying that is a prob but they have stalled a few times inside the redzone.

According to Pro Football Weekly, here is the difference in our red zone efficiency from last year to this year.

2006 Offense
Rank Poss TD FG Scor Pct TD Pct
31. 49 16 18 .694 .327

2006 Defense
Rank Poss TD FG Scor Pct TD Pct
16. 45 23 15 .844 .511

2007 Offense (through Week 14)
Rank Poss TD FG Scor Pct TD Pct
10. 41 23 15 .927 .561

2007 Defense (through Week 14)
Rank Poss TD FG Scor Pct TD Pct
18. 34 18 10 .824 .529

Wow, a huge jump for the offense and a slight regression for the defense, although last year's defense prior to week 14 was prone to big plays, which would not figure into this stat. If the defense was looking for a point of motivation in the last few weeks, it could be to surpass last year's ranking for red zone efficiency on defense.

What a super thread.

Thanks B. :)

That Statistic that makes me go WOW is anything related to Randy Moss and the outstandind play fr. him in New England. He's again a human highlight reel.

He makes Brady look good as does Wes Welker and arn't these different WR's physically.

Welker is the Mutt and Moss the Jeff.

The stat that makes me go WOW the most though is the one that sounds like Packers are 11-2 to date in the NFL.

That's just nuts !!!

WOW NUTS !!!! :)

What a great start to a great script for a great NFL Football movie on the Packers and the Legendary Brett Favre going all the way to the Super Bowl ans all the while the Packers GM just scratch's his head.

When asked by a Wisconsin Sports reporter the following question:

How on earth did your team do this Ted ?

Packers GM Ted Thompson responded after clearing his throat (a lot ):

'' Well ahhh, errrr ahhh hemmmm I'm not really sure. . . but it's sure messing up my draft position. . . and

besides I'm not at liberty to divulge any of the inside stuff ya know ''.

Translation.

Ole Ted doesn't have a clue. Either that or he's got hoseshoes up his tight arse. :)

PACKERS FOREVER!

Do we vote for best thread of the year? If so, do the best threads always come out in December, so they aren't forgotten (Oscar's humor 8-) ). I vote for this one. And I hope that in February we can dig this back out and add winning the Superbowl and all kinds of other goodys that will have come along the way!!!!
