Barring some incredible scoring feat by Ray Bironos tonight (18pts.), Mason Crosby will be the leagues high scorer for the year. Couldn't of happened to a nicer guy.

Good for him. Looks like we have a great kicker for years to come!

What a great 6th round pick...and it's not as though he did it kicking for a dome team, either. Congrats!

Also, he now has the highest scoring season by a kicker in franchise history and third-highest season point total by any Packers player. 8-)

and....probably the best perk IMHO....he passed up moss :)

Maybe he will blame his holder. :D

It is an incredible feat by Crosby. If you think about all of the great kickers we have had in Green Bay, it's really a huge deal!

What is even more incredible is that we were in the position for him to kick the FG's often enough for him to have the chance to do that. Next season, if Favre returns, maybe we can take a run at the new total points scored in a season record and Crosby won't have to kick FG's as much :).

I doubt he'll actually get the ROY - I just can't see a kicker/special teamer landing it. Not that I think he shouldn't, but I think he probably won't even get consideration.

Maybe the one thing he has going for him is that the players at the top of the draft haven't lit it up. CJ has been just ok, Russel didn't play...Joe Thomas is probably the best of the top 5, and he's OL, so there are no numbers to point at for him.

Ted worked magic with 6th rounders this year. 3 starters and a special teams contributor.

Peterson had OROY locked up about a month ago, but since then has simply been poor. I think he'll still get it though.

Frankly, Joe Thomas deserves it. For a rookie LT to dominate how he did was phenominal.

Speaking of left tackles, remember all the predictions of greatness for D'Brickshaw Ferguson before the draft? Many said he would be a pillar at LT to build a line around. During the game yesterday they put up a graphic of "sacks allowed" by O-linemen around the league. Ferguson leads the entire NFL in most sacks allowed. I believe it was 16 going into yesterday.

Actually D'Brick was 2nd. Jeff Backus had 17 sacks for the Lions. It's amazing Kitna isn't in traction by now with the beating he took.

I was impressed by Crosby in the Packers first game of the season against the Eagles. If you recall, he made the game-winning field goal with just seconds to go in the game!

How many rookie kickers in their first pro game would favorably perform with the kind of pressure that Crosby faced?

He has a bright future with the Packers, IMO.

Some of us old geezers remember Chester Marcol, the Polish Prince, putting up 128 points as a rookie in a 14 game season.

Fans loved Chester. I wish the best for Mason.

You are right, California.

Marcol did have a great rookie season. Unfortunately, he self-destructed in the following years. Hopefully, Crosby can keep his head on straight.

A: Mason Crosby

Who?

This just makes me think we should've scored more in the red zone.

I'm surprised he kicked more field goals than Robbie Gould!! Considering the Bears couldn't score touchdowns. Did anyone see the stat that the Titans only scored nine touchdowns ALL YEAR, and are in the playoffs!! Unreal.

Good rookie year for Crosby but he definetly needs to improve his FG % accuracy next season.

Good rookie year for Crosby but he definetly needs to improve his FG % accuracy next season.

Crosby finished 31/39, just under 80%.
He was 19/20 under 40 yards.
He had the second most attempts at 40+ yards in the league.
Janikowski was 13/21 over 40 yards
Crosby was 12/19.

Both kickers' overall percentages suffered because of so many long kicks, especially Janikowski who attempted 11 at 50+

I don't get it, how can he have more points then brady???

50 td's x 6 points = 300 points

31 fgs x 3 plus 48 xp = 141 points

Passing TDs does not count as points since the passer does get into the endzone himself.

Oh and congrats to Crosby; he was up and down in his rookie year but, by far, he was mostly up! Good pick.

see this list. As michael said the qb doesn't get into the endzone, for scoring, those points go to the specialist (wr,rb,fb,te) who scores...

That also why Moss is second, not Brady
