Seems like they want to stick with old farts performing. It's been a while since I liked a SB halftime show.

So you don't like the old farts? You just wanna see Janet's boobie again, don't ya? :P

Speaking of old farts, I was kind've hoping Aerosmith (a few years ago) would've been a good show, but they screwed that up :x

I don't watch the halftime show anyways.

At least I haven't since Elvis Presto performed at Super Bowl XXIII.

The worst was the Stones a couple years ago. I agree, they need someone to pump some life into the SB. The game has been very dull the last couple years. The best thing for the NFL would be Pats/Packers. Packer fans are everywhere and a Favre vs Brady story would run for the entire 2 weeks heading into the game.

Soulja Boy should play.

Supaman that ho
now watch me ooooooo

I remember the year Janet was "exposed". I was in the other room when that happened and I heard my son yell, "gross!!!!" He was 7 then....lol I asked him what happened and he was too embarrassed to tell me. Of course later I found out he saw his first boobie.

I'm one of those people that gets tired of hearing the same songs over and over.

If I never hear Pride in the Name of Love again, I'll be happy. I felt that way about every Start Me Up in like 1989. Aerosmith should have stopped after Toys in the Attic or possibly Get Your Wings.

Was U2 the act that performed in the SB after 9/11?

U2 is the best band on the planet...of course they will be good. Yes, they performed after 9/11...and it was probably the best 15 minute concert ever.

Popular music is mostly crap these days. The better artists usually are the ones who fly below the radar of Super Bowl.

They need to stop with the ridiculously old people though. The Stones? Prince? Tom Petty? Maybe in 1988, not 2008.

Elvis Presto was the best. It's been all downhill since.

Maybe we can just make holograms of people and play their music in the background.......

If I remember correctly there was some that were critical of the songs U2 played for the superbowl following 9/11. I think it was "Beautiful Day" and "Where the Streets have no names"
I love anytime I get to see U2, but IMO, they should have performed "Walk On"....what a perfect song for after 9/11.

Obviously them having the older performers now is a direct response to "Janet-Gate"

I heard for next year's Super Bowl they're getting Andy Williams for the halftime show.

I liked the show Prince did last year. I am looking forward to Petty too.

I missed the boob slip, but I wanted to do Janet long before that anyway....

They performed "Walk On" about 900 times in the course of all the relief efforts and concerts. "Walk On" was overplayed because of 9/11...and I'm glad U2 went a different direction.

In fact, their choices were better IMO. "Beautiful Day" can be an allusion to someone entering heaven...or also about being happy about your lot in life regardless of circumstance, and "Where the Streets Have No Names" is a song written about how it is better when religion isn't used as a reason for division and hatred.

Both were highly appropriate themes given the circumstances...and the performance itself was incredible powerful with the tower of names and Bono's revelation of the US flag on the inner lining of his jacket.

I kinda feel that way about U2. They lost me as a fan after Achtung Baby. I still listen to them all the time....their old stuff!!

When that "Wardrobe Malfunction" occurred, I looked at my wife and said, "Was that real skin exposed or just flesh-colored fabric underneath her top layer?" I just could not believe that real exposure would occur on national TV.

I would still rather have my child see that than all the simulated killings we are exposed to every evening on TV.

I'm reallllllly excited to see Tom Petty this year he's the man. We gotta switch it up in the years to come though. Killswitch Engage, Wolfmother, Metallica: if they are gonna put on a "rock" performance why not put a rock band on the stage?

How about a show with some big hair bands from the 80's? Van Halen, Poison, and Def Leopard would be good and they are getting to be old farts.

The FCC would never allow it. Too much risk of him doing one of his naughty Chuck songs like "I saw you playing with your ding-a-ling."

The more that I think about it, how cool to see Tom jamming out while the Packers are leading the Pats 17-10.

It was a boob for christsakes, a boob with a little star on it, big deal.

007 don't feel so bad, I saw my first Hustler when I was 8. It has been all down hill since.

Anyways, Tom Petty is cool and classic. What this Super Bowl thing really needs is a marching band performance.
