They do this at Milwaukee CC for members who play slow. Let me tell you no one wants the rest of the club to know that they play slow. Slow play is never an issue. After the second warning they can't make tee times in prime time.
ya, lets run with that idea, but why not put a positive spin on it.
We could adopt the same color code that Bob McGinn use for his annual column of a scout's rating of packer players:
blue - difference maker
purple - excellent poster
red - good
yellow - marginal performer
green - a poster you'd like to replace
poster names could appear in the color of their rating.
Great idea.
Just like terrorist attack color code alerts and all that. They worked great for Bush and co...
We could even make announcements about who's leading the way with infractions and even accidently create competitions / fake aliases and all that for further notoriety.
I would switch the ratings for red and green. It's counter-intuitive.
What ever happened to the monthly public stoning idea we floated a few years back? Everyone's required to vote for someone to stone, under punishment of instant stoning, and the leading vote getter gets stoned. Of course by stoned, I mean banned. What was the name of that stupid short story? The Lottery or something.
We could really turn over the bottom of the roster that way.

But if this is going to be done right, I suggest that even when someone's not being a terrible poster, that poster's "danger level" is always kept higher than it really should be. that way, we'll never be taken by surprise....
In case my sarcasm wasn't clear, shit like this is exactly what I wasn't looking forward to ...
I think my threat level is beige or mauve.
oh man real luls   :lol:Quote:

I agree with some others. Admin you need to change your screen name. kinda boring. maybe call yourself, The Comish. and you ought to put in an avatar. oh ya and change the front page. the jamooo or whatever it says needs to go.
My threat level is always heliotrope or taupe.
I think written rules are a good idea. Of course people are going to push boundaries, but that is happening already, just see this thread or any other Favre thread.
I think the rules should be contain parameters that are easy to identify and quantify, so there is a minimum of debate about whether or not a post "crosses" the line. Then I agree with Harlan, someone/somebodies should review the posts in question, in context and determine if they warrant action.
Action could be step by step, clear as day about how long you are gone. 1st offense, 2nd, third, etc. AdminMan would be the appeals process. Or he could ask someone to review the case.
Then, some two years down the line, justice would be served.
This is not a business with a group of auditors functioning above it. It's a one man show running the gig. Easy to say what should be done when you are not that guy. This is really directed at no poster.
The idealists can always theorize how to make things better; reality is you are greatly risking something that has been working if you try to fix something that is not broken.

I'm getting all tingly just thinking about Forum Utopia.
Your point is well taken. But we have had voluntary Mods before, it may be possible to do something with the same kind of numbers. And everyone could contribute to the rule writing. I don't pretend to have all the answers, this is the only message board I use and one of only two I read. So my experience in this area is limited to actual meatspace.Quote:

Agreed, but it is a business in the sense that the posters are customers and that it would cease to exist if they stopped "shopping" here.Quote:
