well whoopie
Goodbye Matt Flynn. I think it's the right move. Flynn did good work for the Packers, but the shine seemed to wear off last year. Bring in a young guy to develop.
Experience is the only reason Flynn was the backup last year. Tolzien outplayed him in the preseason games. I agree it's time to move on from Flynn whose arm limits what the Packers can do when he's in there.
Tolzien ... what's that drug used for?
Seems like an awfully generous contract for a guy who has done nothing.
I wonder if Flynn's elbow is really done. There's not much age difference between the two, Tolzien will be 28 this year, Flynn 30. Tolzien hasn't shown much his 4 years in the league.
Seems weird. Maybe he's MM's pacifier - it's just comforting to have him around even if he serves no real purpose.
Seems like you coulda got him for a lot less. Probably not much more than the vet minimum.
Of course if you look at the QBs available in FA and the QB crop outside of the top 2 in this draft Tolzien might be the best option for us presently. :-?
Harlan will post again.
Scott is his boo.
And on the field.

Hopefully Tozien will become the second coming of Steve Bono someday. Back-up to the greatest quarterback of all-time. And back-up to his replacement after that.
Not a bad gig.

New from JS: Tolzien's deal includes just $100,000 in guarantees http://ift.tt/1wXK6tU #Packers
Tolzien had a 102 rating in preseason (2014) and he wasn't playing backup minutes with the Big 5 WR corp, where backup minutes would find you throwing to Nelson, Jones, Cobb and Quarless. That doesn't happen by accident in the NFL. Flynn was an 85 or so.
I don't think he is all that and they do need someone with more upside to develop.
But he seems like he might be on a trajectory to be a solid backup. Two pretty good offensive minds have thought he was worth signing, Harbaugh and M3.
If that doesn't mollify you, take solace from this: he is WAY better than Joel Stave.
If Garrett Grayson falls to the fourth or fifth, Packers should grab him.
