Look, at this from their FAQ section.

I sleep on the right side of the bed. Can I use it there?

Because of our unique patented design, you can adjust to fit The Back-Up© on either side of the bed, placing it where it is most convenient for you. In fact, we suggest you have The Back-Up© on both sides of the bed.
Are they suggesting that you need two shotguns by your bedside?!?!

Well you don't want to get in a fight with you wife and have the shotgun on her side, do you?

If you have children in your home, this would be a terrible idea.

Most gun deaths in the home involve a child getting access to an unsecured gun owned by their parents. The child plays with it, often in the presence of friends, and tragedy follows.

Studies show that those type of accidents occur far more frequently than a homeowner actually defending him(her)self with a gun. against an intruder.

    Lasik at home?

    Wow.

Best case scenario for that thing is that it doesn't work when you use it. If it does......

I would have taken my legal handgun and blown the fucker away.
I would have put the money on the table and when he turns his back pulled it out and held it up to him. With his back to me, he is defenseless and no one needs to hurt and no one loses their earnings. With no one having a gun but him, people are either going to get hurt or lose their earnings.
So now a little hidden protection at your fingertips is not ok?

I don't need these marketing gimics.

I've got a gun rack mounted to the head board. It holds three guns. one for each hand and a back up just incase of a jam. never can be too careful.
