1st is high, but we may be late in round 2 if we don't take a guy in round 1.
But, I like this guy.
"I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny Murraugh

I honestly don't think he's much better than Lattimore, who we didn't even have to draft. Irvin is a guy who didn't even start in college, I'm not sure he's ever going to win a starting spot in the NFL. At best he's a pass rush specialist who does nothing but pin his ears back and go after the QB, and he might be decent on STs. Day 3 pick IMO.
He's also really unlikely to be deemed "Packer people."

This man will NOT be a Green Bay Packer this month. I will not provide all the reasons I feel this way.It simply will not happen. I'll submit this from sources I gleened:
Bruce Irvin is a raw prospect with demonstrated ability as a pass-rusher. He's scouted a one dimension rush specialist that lacks versatility, as not close to being ready to drop into coverage..
In his final two seasons, Irvin recorded 22 sacks and forced five fumbles and that's it ! He's also a hybrid defensive end/linebacker. Irvin helped out with 61 tackles and if he didn't SACK the QB he didn't make any tackles for loss in 2010. Check out his number of tackles for loss last season. Because we run a 3-4 'D' he might fit and develop in time.
IMO....Bruce Irvin will have to fall to the very late rounds before TT would consider him.
Irvin has demonstrated an ability to overcome a tumultuous background but recent bad reports on him don't have him out of the woods. TT would have had to certainly be provided with an interview or some scrutiny of this prospect that would recommend Bruce Irvin.
As a First round pick at OUR #28 spot.
Sorry for his fans here but IMO .... NO!

Irvin served time in a juvenile detention center for destruction of property and was ineligible for high school football. He then got his GED, was a walk-on at a junior college and ended up at WV. TT never drafts guys who are character risks in the early rounds. The question I have is would TT consider him a character risk because of his high school experience? Or would TT see him as a strong character guy because of the way he's moved his career in a positive direction since then? I'm guessing the latter.
He's bad ass on the field. Fast, strong, speed on the edge, great bull rush, great inside move, closes fast, finishes with nasty, adjusts well when the QB tries to escape he still finds a way to make a play he shouldn't be able to make. When he disengages and puts the peddle down, he's going 100mph right now. I'd like to see him run some stunts. He's a fuckin beast. I love guys who, when they finish a sack, injure the poor mother fucker on the receiving end. This guy is mean. If he's a 2nd round pick, he'd be a steal.
Hell, he'd be worth the full 2nd round pick if he played on 3rd down only. He has a little Clay Matthews in him as a pass rusher.

One thing I like about him is he never quits on a play. Makes tackles from behind against unsuspecting ballcarriers, sometimes causing fumbles. I'd be okay with him in the 2nd round.
By the way, Irvin had the best time at the Combine in the "Cone" among OLB prospects, and it wasn't even close. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/p...kings/2012/OLB

Oops! I guess I read that wrong. That is really bad timing for a guy trying to escape a rough past. Hard to predict how this will affect him.
He busted a sign at a Jimmy Johns restaurant. What did they do? Forget the mayo?
