    Backup QBs in GB

I commented in another thread that GB backups used to be better. Here are backups, probably with some errors, since Favre became starter

    1992 Don Majkowski, Ty Detmer
    1993 Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell
    1994 Mark Brunell, Ty Detmer
    1995 Ty Detmer, T.J. Rubley
    1996 Jim McMahon, Doug Pederson
1997 Jim McMahon, Doug Pederson, Steve Bono
    1998 Doug Pederson
    1999 Matt Hasselback
    2000 Matt Hasselback, Danny Wuerffel
    2001 Doug Pederson
    2002 Doug Pederson
    2003 Doug Pederson, Craig Nall
    2004 Doug Pederson, Craig Nall, J.T. O'Sullivan
    2005 Aaron Rodgers
    2006 Aaron Rodgers, Ingle Martin
    2007 Aaron Rodgers, Craig Nall
    2008 Matt Flynn
    2009 Matt Flynn
    2010 Matt Flynn, Graham Harrell
    2011 Matt Flynn, Graham Harrell
    2012 Graham Harrell
2013 Seneca Wallace, Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien
    2014 Matt Flynn, Scott Tolzien

I guess things have been sketchy the past three years.
McMahon and Pederson were pretty bad. I think we remember Pederson fondly because he didn't have to play.

Rick Mirer was also a backup along with Aaron Brooks, Henry Burris and the great Brian Brohm.

Sherman tried copy to Wolf by signing vets such as Tim Couch and Akili Smith, but for some reason, things didn't work out. Should've signed Joey Harrington.

How are J.T. O'Sullivan and Nick Collins connected?

From J.T.'s Pro Football Reference page: October 4, 2004: Traded by Saints with 2005 2nd round pick (51st overall, Nick Collins) to Packers for an undisclosed 2004 draft pick and Mike McKenzie

Were Doug Pederson, Henry Burris or Craig Nall better than Flynn? Pederson was more awful than Flynn as a starter.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Burris & Nall never ascended to the #2 throne in GB. I didn't realized how long Flynn had been in GB, the years go rushing by. He is a clipboard legend like Pederson. Maybe Flynn was better than Pederson, they are similar. I think Harrell, Wallace & Flynn were the only #2s who never got starting jobs in NFL.

Pederson was terrible. The hand off king, even in a winnable game. I'm sure everyone is with me when I say that I miss the glory days of ole Ingle Martin from Furman, correct?

Fair enough. How about Flynn better than late period Jim McMahon or anytime Ty Detmer?

I'm sweet on Ty Detmer, he was a smart and accurate passer. He had a Flynn-like flurry of success in Philly after leaving Pack. I imagine McMahon was washed up.

Flynn has been a good backup (with emphasis on "has been".) Looking at the list, the only ones who are obviously better are the guys who went on to success as starters - Matt Hasselbeck, Mark Brunell & Eric Rodgers

I remember a lot of Craig Nall love for a while back at JSO. Guy was bad.

What ever happened to that Aaron Rodgers guy?
Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

Did Danny Wawful really make the final cut out of TC? How did that happen? Was Sherman hoping to outdo Holmey in the QB reclamation project department?

Can't believe Hasselback was only in GB for two years, I thought he was around longer.

He was there 3 years, the first year on the practice squad and two years on the regular roster.

Boy, did Seattle get the better end of that Hasselbeck trade...

March 5, 2001: Traded by Packers with 2001 1st round pick (17th overall, Steve Hutchinson) to Seahawks for 2001 3rd round pick (72nd overall, Torrance Marshall) and 2001 1st round pick (10th overall, Jamal Reynolds)

Reynolds and Marshall were both stiffs. Look at who they might have drafted instead, including Hutchinson. http://www.mynfldraft.com/2001

In the third round of 2001, the Packers could have drafted Steve Smith WR, Utah.

That was a bad trade even at the time. You have to get more than one pick net for a franchise QB, even if he was only borderline. 2nd and that third would have been better.

Oh come on now. Hasselbeck never played in GB so no one really knew what he was or wasn't. We got a 3rd and moved up 7 spots in the 1st for an unproven QB.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

    Just checked the stats:

Matt Hasselbeck was 13/29 for 145 yards and 2 TDs in actual games as a Packer.

Hasselbeck was Mr. August. Great in the preseason, and then you never saw him again.
