    Official OTA/Minicamp Thread

    OTA's: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5.

    Mandatory Minicamp: June 10-12.

Teams are allowed up to 10 OTA's, so more could possibly be added.

With Jenkins out, the first-team offensive line was comprised of Rasheed Walker at left tackle, Aaron Banks at left guard, Zach Tom at right tackle and Sean Rhyan and Jacob Monk rotating between right guard and center. Interestingly, Monk got the nod over both Travis Glover and Kadeem Telfort, two players who got playoff looks as Jenkins’ replacement versus the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Monk was often a healthy scratch in 2024, but it appears that the staff is still a fan of the fifth-rounder out of Duke

2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan worked as the left tackle with the second-team offense, which shouldn’t be a surprise. The Packers have long talked about how they believe that Morgan, who mostly played right guard last summer, has the potential to develop into a starting left tackle at the NFL level. They’re giving him the opportunity to specialize there, so don’t be shocked if he ends up rotating in at left tackle in place of Walker for some practices during camp.

Second-round rookie Anthony Belton received reps with both the second-team and third-team units as a right tackle. The only news on the Belton front is that he isn’t immediately being asked to rotate in for the right guard job, which is still a possibility down the line. For whatever reason, Monk got that nod today.

One rookie who did get immediate snaps with the first-team offense on Wednesday was first-round receiver Matthew Golden. According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Ryan Wood, Dontayvion Wicks didn’t have a drop today, which is hopefully a sign of things to come.

Despite not being a participant in team drills, Bullard rotated in at safety with Evan Williams opposite of Xavier McKinney in limited looks. Elsewhere in the secondary, with Alexander out, Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs held it down as the team’s outside cornerbacks with Hobbs kicking into the slot and Carrington Valentine coming off of the bench in nickel looks.

One player whose stock seems to be trending up is cornerback Gregory Junior, who worked with the first-team defense as a nickelback after being signed just a week ago. Junior is a former draft pick who had a pre-draft visit with the Packers back in 2022. He also has played special teams at the NFL level, which is something Green Bay desperately needs from their fifth cornerback.

I read Cooper is 11 pounds heavier and moving as good as ever. I didn't like the pick for a multitude of reasons, but I sure hope the guy improves on a promising rookie year.

I'll be looking for news on the resident rocket scientist as I think he has real potential.

I'd love to know why this team insists on thinking Nixon is a better outside CB than Valentine who has proven himself on the field every opportunity he has. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Wonder how many games JA will play?
Swede: My expertise in this area is extensive. The essential difference between a "battleship" and an "aircraft carrier" is that an aircraft carrier requires five direct hits to sink, but it takes only four direct hits to sink a battleship.

If he stays with the Packers, I suspect will pay will depend on how many games he plays.

Stats don't tell everything, but Nixon gave up a lower completion pct. than Valentine. Their passer rating allowed was about the same. Nixon played almost twice as many snaps as Valentine. It might be because Valentine is known as a press corner, and Packers didn't play a ton of that last year probably due to the inconsistent pass rush. Nixon was targeted more per snap than Valentine. Don't know if that was because teams thought he was more beatable, if he covered top receivers more, or something else.

Nixon held up ok at outside corner and I think he's better there than in the slot.

As far as first few days, I'm not reading too much into who plays where. I've seen them do some first-week things that made little sense before, usually they are just trying people out to see if they can hang or not (Monk, Junior).
Belton they will try at tackle and let him fail inside to guard. The consensus seems to be he's a better fit at G in the pros, but if he can play swing tackle that's a huge bonus.

I think they try the snap sharing thing again with Rhyan/Belton and Walker/Morgan this year like they did with Rhyan/JRJ and Walker/Njiman.

Belton has every tool needed to play tackle, he just also faces a lot of competition. If Morgan ends up back at guard it clears up a lot as his size and arm length are better suited to guard, but his skill set is suited to tackle.

Mandatory minicamp June 10-12. WE know Jaire won't be there. All eyes will be on Elgton Jenkins. Media will have access to practices, but last day of minicamp is usually not a practice.

Word is Elgton Jenkins will be at minicamp but will not be practicing. He is looking to redo his contract which has no guaranteed money left.

Reality is that 2025 salary is all but locked in. Unless he suffers a career ending injury in camp he will make the opening day roster and that guarantees the salary. Also, if the packers wanted to remove that argument they could simply guarantee the rest of the contract. I believe that doesn't cause a kick forward effect like guaranteeing only 2025 would. If I were them that would be my move (assuming he would be satisfied by that).

I think he is trying to get some of next year's salary guaranteed, since the contract is large but not guaranteed. He's 31 next year and will have trouble getting another big contract. Plus, he wants some injury insurance.

They'll work something out. I don't think missing reps in OTC will hurt him too much, and he will be there for the meetings to pick up on anything new they will be doing.

#Packers have moved WR Bo Melton to CB. GM Brian Gutekunst said they love his play on special teams and coaches were open to seeing him on defense. His brother Max is a starting CB for the #Cardinals.

Once Travis Hunter makes it cool again to play both O and D, Melton’s gonna be the Packers’ poor man’s Hunter.

Packers adjusted Jaire's contract before the release so that the 10 million dead cap that would have hit in 2026 will be applied to the 2025 cap.

    ‪Tom Silverstein, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‬ ‪@tspoon62.bsky.social‬

#Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he loves everything about Bo Melton and gave him some snaps at cornerback during the first minicamp practice. "His brother (Max) is a pretty good player as well and I thought if there is someone who can do both, he's the guy."

    ‪Tom Silverstein, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‬ ‪@tspoon62.bsky.social‬

LaFleur said the depth behind the top three cornerbacks is a work in a progress. "There's a lot of wait and see. We have a lot of young guys that are kind of unknown."

LaFleur said it was the team's decision to not practice C Elgton Jenkins today but didn't indicate there was any issue.
