Could both wildcards really end up coming from the North? It's starting to look like a serious possibility. Dallas still has to play the Giants twice, Atlanta's schedule isn't bad, two tough road games, four very winnable home games but neither of those teams really impress me.

I think Detroit will tank though.

Bears should make it. They are through the toughest part of their schedule. Lions could be in trouble. They still have 2 games with the Packers and have to play road games at New Orleans and Oakland.

Lions have the toughest schedule in large part because they have to play a certain undefeated team twice.

Exactly. And even though the opponent win percentage will fall a bit after all the division games (.500 record for the slate of division games), the league has pushed many division contests to late in the year, the North will still rank as the toughest division.

I think it's Conference record and then common opponents. They have beat Tampa, Lions and Giants so far
and have Rams yet. They will have tough games against Ravens and Steelers yet. That will show how good they might be.

It's conference record which would be the same if 49ers win and Packers lose.
Next is common opponents, with a minimum of four. That hasn't happened yet.
Next is strength of victory, which I believe is won/loss record of teams that you have beaten.

Strength of Victory is the win/loss record of teams you've played not counting the games in which you have played. Only an academic difference if both GB and SF have the same record.

Regarding strenght of schedule, by the end of the season the Packers will have had the far harder road to travel, no team left on our slate is more than 1 game below .500, SF has to still play most of the NFCW (or looserville).

Their schedule is pretty easy, being in the NFCW. Packers would almost certainly have stronger SOV.
