    Two-minute offense gets workout

The Packers worked on their two-minute offense Thursday morning. Some of the highlights included:

-- Ingle Martin completed a 54-yard touchdown pass to receiver Ruvell Martin. Ingle Martin showed good arm strength as he rolled to his right and heaved the pass more than 50 yards in the air for the touchdown.

-- Quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed a touchdown pass over the middle to rookie Greg Jennings. The ball was partially tipped by cornerback Jerron Wishom, and Jennings also tipped the ball up into the air before making a circus catch and finding his way to the end zone.

-- The Packers hurried their field goal unit onto the field as time was expiring. Kicker Dave Rayner then converted a 46-yard field goal.

    Veterans get morning practice off

Numerous Packers’ veterans sat out Thursday morning’s training camp workout, the same thing that happened last Thursday, two days prior to the team’s first exhibition game, when coach Mike McCarthy said he wanted to give his veterans the morning off.

Sitting out this morning’s practice were quarterback Brett Favre, cornerbacks Al Harris and Charles Woodson, running backs Ahman Green and William Henderson, offensive linemen Mark Tauscher and Chad Clifton, longsnapper Rob Davis, defensive ends Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, receivers Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson, and tight end Bubba Franks.

Returning to practice Thursday was Samkon Gado, who had missed workouts earlier this week because of a hamstring injury. Also returning was fullback A.J. Cooper, who had a shoulder injury.

    Moss downplays shoving incident

There were reports that Packers linebacker coach Winston Moss was pushed by fullback William Henderson in the midst of a pass-blocking drill at practice Tuesday evening, but Moss downplayed the incident.

    “I didn’t feel a shove,” Moss said.

The drill involves running backs blocking against blitzing linebackers and it generated some spirited one-on-one battles. It escalated into a shoving match between the two positions groups, with Henderson and linebacker Nick Barnett in the middle of the fracas.

Moss said he didn’t have a problem with the lively exchange.

“There’s nothing wrong with that,” he said. “We better have some type of spirit. You need that to increase your level of intensity.”

McCarthy tells team to shape up

Packers coach Mike McCarthy called the entire team together in the middle of practice on Wednesday to essentially tell players to get their act together. “It wasn’t good enough,” McCarthy said in reference to how practice was going. McCarthy said practice was too sloppy for his tastes.

McCarthy said neither practice on Thursday will be conducted in full pads because it's two days before a game.

The Packers host the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday. The players will wear shells (lighter, smaller shoulder pads), according to McCarthy.

The Packers will conduct a walk-through practice on Friday at Lambeau Field that will be closed.
