He was rd 1 talent a year ago. Can't be as bad as some seem to think. Seems about the right place to grab him. a few questions, but more positives. Something happened his last year, and if they think it was mostly not his fault it could be a real good pick.

If they plan on expanding role and use of Cobb in the backfield, it would make sense to have a backup guy so the whole package doesn't go out the window with an injury. Kinda like the year they put an emphasis on using Finley...

I am also pretty sure they don't want Cobb to take too many hits running it inside.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Pretty underwhelming draft so far....the jury is still out obviously. But in keeping up with it I can't help but thinking back to the inactivity by TT in free agency. Had we brought House back, or added another corner, we could have gone Anthony or Kendricks in the first and made the same 2nd and 3rd picks. I would have been super pleased with the Packers offseason. Of course I don't know all the particulars of any negotiations that may or may have not gone down, this is just my armchair GM opinion. The front seven has been in need of talent and depth and we have added essentially nothing with our last 12 draft picks. That's not good.
But who knows how the rest of the draft will unfold and we will see what these guys can do this summer. I give Ted some leeway because he has put together a competitive team. But the last two drafts really do have me scratching my head a bit.

Okay, I can somewhat understand confusion over this season, but what's so perplexing about last season?

    GREAT POST
LIFE IS ABOUT CHAMPIONSHIPS; I JUST REALIZED THIS. The MILWAUKEE BUCKS have won the same number of championships over the past 50 years as the Green Bay Packers. Ten years from now, who will have more championships, and who will be the fart in the wind ?

Good point. I think this shows some flexibility. The offense has been evolving since the days of Driver and Jennings. They just don't seem to be targeting the same mold, at least not exclusively.

I think TT's tendency, if he has one, is draft counter to the flavor of the month. If most teams are targeting huge WRs, he finds value in the smaller guys with other positives.

the fact that we needed an ILB last year, and went for a slug like kyrie or whatever his name is instead

and although i like the 3 wrs he got last year. really 3 wr's taken, when we needed a ILB and didn't get one?

It's the combination of the two drafts. In our last 12 picks we have drafted 4 receivers. Yet just one lb and one d-lineman.(both appear to be busts) That doesn't perplex you at all?

We resigned Cobb and Bulaga, so I think FA went pretty well for us.

Yeah, I can see your point. I was surprised they did not bring House back. They don't let many young guys go through free agency, unless they simply can't play. Something must not have added up for them.

Relative to other team's free agents, I love the excitement of seeing new player's come in as a fan. But if I am really objective, free agency is like gambling at a casino. You lose on average. Also like a casino, everyone seems to talk about and remember the time some guy wins big, but far fewer hear or remember the time some guy lost his shirt.

it allowed TT to select d-backs instead of a starting tackle

They saw House as a good talent with durability concerns. They had his value at $4-5 million. Jacksonville saw his value at $6+ million. I lean towards the Packers position.

Yes, but they have shelled out a lot of money for their own guys in the past, more than I would have expected in some cases. I can justify the decision to let House go after-the-fact, but it still surprised me at the time.

I just feel like a serviceable db or lb or both should have been added via free agency to give us more depth and flexibility in the draft. We had cap space to be a little more aggressive, especially considering the holes and departures of rotation guys. The defense looks like it is going to be quite the adventure next season, hope the young kids are ready to come in and perform right away.

They did add Josh Francis (ILB) and Kyle Sebetic (DB).
