Very bad decision to pass in that situation. Run out the clock and go to the locker room up 6-0. Stupid.

yes but they're thinkin' "we need all the points we can get."

Why would they think that?

because even though we've moved the ball we have almost nothing to show for it.

Here's the rest of my post you didn't show: "KC did absolutely nothing up to that point and were dominated by our front 7. They showed no ability to move the ball. Up 6, play conservative and go in at half winning. If you're playing NE or Dallas you need all the points you can get. KC's offense is miserable."

It was a dumb decision to pass, plain and simple.

MM has the balls to make aggressive calls at times - I like it, whether it works out or not. It makes it really toiugh for teams to prepare for us when they think we are liable to do anything.

There's a difference between being aggressive and being stupid though. That was stupid.

It's only stupid now because it didnt work. Whats the diff between that call and a bomb on the first play of OT?

It was stupid before the ball was snapped.

An apples to oranges comparison to the OT bomb is ridiculous and has no relevance to this situation.

The Leaper

i notice they are giving him help on both pass and rush.

I didn't see much help on that last INT. It looked like College mano-on-mano on Boone.

fan4life
11-04-2007, 01:45 PM
McCarthy needs to make a lot of adjustments.

Colledge needs help on EVERY pass play. If pass protection can be shored up, Favre can beat the KC secondary with ease.

Bigby and Bush can never be allowed to cover the same part of the field ever again. I might never forgive Thompson for taking Harrell over Reggie Nelson.

Favre's play has been unacceptable. A horrible first down throw...a stupid late INT to give KC a chance. McCarthy is equally to blame on that last INT. After nearly giving KC the ball on a lateral, you take your medicine, run the ball, and punt it away. You don't try to make a 3rd and long against a team that has been in Favre's grill all day.
Colledge was beat in pass pro; Krob fell; and MM called a play that had KRob in there to make a tough 3rd-and-long play.... but Favre is the problem???

Get real. The whole offense, including Favre, is out of rhythm.

Lurker64
11-04-2007, 02:16 PM
Here's the reason you don't go for 2 here:

A PAT is a higher percentage play than a 2-pt conversion by a lot.

If you go for 1 and make it, a field goal by the Packers makes it a 2 score game (9 point lead.)

If you go for 2 and miss it, even an additional field goal by the Packers leaves it a 1 score game (8 point lead).

Since the Packers will get the ball back in this game probably a couple more times, a 2-point conversion here is foolhardy.

Harlan Huckleby
11-04-2007, 02:16 PM
The way AJ ran the ball after the INT, maybe he should go in as a fullback!

He looked like he wanted to fall on the ball at first. Then worked up his nerve to get some yardage. I like the "protect the ball first" mentality from defensive meatheads.

Excellent points Lurker.

you're right. but sometimes it makes sense to go against the percentages and catch the opposition off guard.

We've already got our Fullback of the future. We've spent the season talking about a lot of TT draft picks, and one that we fail to mention is Korey Hall, he's doing really damn well for a 6th round pick who is playing his first season as a fullback! He's the one person we can't blame the running game on, because he fights every play.

I had doubts about Jennings in preseason. But I'm a man about this; Jennings is a stud. GJ looks effortless.

I've had my doubts as well, but he clearly is a guy capable of making plays. His only drawback at this point is durability.
