If Morgan beats Walker for the LT spot, I'll be happy bc Walker is at least decent and that says something about Morgan. As for trading Walker, I wouldn't. There is no guarantee your starters will stay healthy all year (last year was a rarity for GB's OL health until the PHI game) and you need to have good backups if you want to win against a tougher schedule than you had last year. Trading Walker in August does nothing for your team in December if Morgan's shoulder flares up and you are facing the gauntlet of NFCN division games.
Walker will get a good contract either way (he's better than Dan Moore who got the silliest contract). You're basically getting a few good years of starting play AND a mid-round comp pick from a R7 lottery ticket draft pick... that's a good deal.
Only caveat to this would be if Morgan AND another OL like Belton or ??? shows enough in camp where you feel you have both a replacement starter and backup at swing tackle to cover your bases, AND some desperate team dangles a high pick at you for Walker. Barring a camp injury I don't see that happening.
Re: Savion and WR/TE push, that would be pretty funny, and I would laugh if GB and other clever teams started exploiting the rule.
Walker is a legit top 20 LT which means sitting him on the bench will cause him to lose his shit going into a contract year. If Morgan actually wins the job I can't see a world where Walker just sits on the bench as a swing tackle this season. More likely if its close they go with Walker for at least 12 weeks to maximize his comp value and also as injury protection. Morgan can't demand anything even if he feels he "won" the job. Maybe this is the most likely outcome. It also "protects" the team if Walker improves into 10-12 LT range. Then they tag him and work on a long term deal. I still think Morgan is for real though and I have trouble imagining how the packers parse sitting him again. Imagine if they piss off Tom by moving him inside after pissing off Jenkins to make room for Banks. Or maybe in the end Morgan ends up at RG after all. So many things to watch this summer.
Moving Walker at the trade deadline has crossed my mind as a possibility, and sitting Walker would be a tough look. I would be surprised if that happened, honestly.
Unless Morgan is obviously better, I think they'll most likely share snaps with Walker taking all the snaps at end of season when they push for playoffs.
You can bet his teammates are going to be watching how Gute and MLF allocate his snaps in a contract year.
I think they'd love to move Tom to C but he'd refuse to sign an extension with GB, so they are going to keep him where he is. He's a very good RT as it is but the way they are going they want to keep getting bigger at OL. Jenkins has less leverage than Tom, but it's a bad idea to piss either of them off.
Morgan lined up with the 1s at both LT and RG today from what I read. I honestly think they want him to win the RG job. His body type is better suited for it than it is as a LT even though I think he can play it. Cross training is a packer hall mark. I see a little TJ Lang in Morgan. My wildcard is still Williams who is mysteriously missing. I really want to see him play and see what the local media thinks of him. Belton is just a ton of fun. Honestly if Belton and Williams both cross train this summer it could be our deepest OL in a long time.
OL of Walker, Banks, Jenkins, Morgan, Tom with Swing tackle Belton/Williams and interior Monk/Rhyan sounds pretty good to me. Still would be room for another if someone earns it.

Fair. I'm not sure whats up in cincinatti. They have burrow who can make average WR look good but instead of investing in OL to protect him they pay elite WRs elite money. In contracts they won't budge on Trey, which is fine in a vaccum, but reworking him simply would guarantee money they are going to pay anyway and probably lower his cap hit in the now. Thats why you have funny money unguaranteed years at the end.
