Here's another topic that I'd like to shoehorn into this thread, since it's about free agency:
ACME Packing Company keeps writing this narrative about Nate Hobbs that his contract matches up with recent slot corner contracts, and therefore it seems to them odd that the Packers talk about him playing outside.
Why would his contract size, just because it's similar to other slot corners' recent contracts, somehow mean the Packers couldn't/wouldn't play him outside? What does the contract have to do with where they play him? Are they forced to play him in the slot because he signed a slot contract? I don't quite get this.
Elgton Jenkins signed his new contract as a guard, yet he's played tackle and will be a center this year.
Can anyone help me understand why ACME is so focused on the type of contract determining the position he'll be "allowed" to play?

I think the article you are referencing is saying that other primarily-slot CBs used his contract as the basis for their negotiations. It's a huge leap in logic Acme then uses to infer the NFL must think he can't play outside.

Looked it up. Love got 4 years, $220. So $55 a year. Just about the same and Purdy has more guaranteed money.

re; the Hobbs contract, when it was announced I immediately thought it was an outside CB contract so they planned for him to play outside. He has played in the slot very well, but they have guys who can play (Bullard, for example, or Nixon) the slot already. I'm still not sure why ACME thinks that, although the contracts given to top slot CBs does support their claim. I'm still skeptical Hobbs is going to play the majority of his snaps in the slot, they aren't giving up on Bullard after one year.
I'm a little surprised slot CB has (until recently) been undervalued; they play a lot of snaps and have a tough job (no sideline to help vs. two way go, plus more run defense duties among the big boys). The salary cap has been jumping up by 25M recently because of TV deal and COVID rebound, so teams are throwing money around a bit carelessly.

Hard to tell. I don't think he was ever really healthy after the knee injury. I think they brought him back too soon. And his receivers led the NFL in drops. This year should tell a lot. He doesn't need to be as on fire as he was the second half of 2023, but he needs to be more consistent.

So a bunch of terrible franchises like titans, dolphins, jets, jags, browns supported the eagles/ravens/lions and Saints.
Weirdly the Bills were for the ban and they were the 2nd biggest beneficiaries.
We added 2 OL near 330 pounds. Jenkins is bigger and stronger than Myers. Savion is a powerhouse in the lower body. When management imposes an awful rule its up to the employees to enforce it to the max to prove its an awful rule. I PRAY they run a lot of sneaky cheese moving Savion ino the backfield to provide the shove. I already have a bold prediction that the rocket scientist wins the RG job. Honestly this is the best I've felt about our OL in a long time. I think Morgan might be homeless if he doesn't win the LT job. If he does do we trade Walker? What would he command on the trade block? Or do we just keep him as the swing while Belton improves his fitness and hands?

When you have a Morgan and Walker competing for the LT job and the loser likely being the swing and a huge rookie 2nd round pick waiting in the wings you are in better shape then you have been in a long time.

Sort of a 2026 issue, but Morgan "can't" beat out Walker for the LT job. If walker starts and walks, we are looking at a 3rd round pick for comp. If he sits, that number will likely drop a lot. If Morgan actually wins the job I'd say the packers almost have to trade walker for at least a 3rd.

A comp pick is nice, but much less valuable than having the best 5 on the line. Morgan winning the job means that he he will have this year working with and learning the players next to him and be even better next year.
Fire Murphy, Gute, MLF, Barry, Senavich, etc!
If Morgan is better than Walker and beats him out for the starting job, who cares what comp pick we get when Walker leaves? If Morgan is really good, Walker will still get a good contract; with the experience he has, the need for LTs, and the quality of who he will have played behind.

Also, much like a backup QB, depth at LT is either worthless or priceless for a given season per injuries.
I humbly suggest changing the name from "Tush Push" to "The Bum's Rush"
