HENDERSON, Nev. -- Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby has agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders that makes him the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

The extension, announced without terms by the Raiders, includes $91.5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN.

Finally, some clarity on the DK Metcalf situation. Over the past week, it’s been reported that the Green Bay Packers were in conversations with the Seattle Seahawks for a trade of the receiver, while others reported that Metcalf wasn’t available in trade talks.

Now it’s official: Metcalf wants out of Seattle. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Metcalf wants to play for a contender and has had “a series of discussions” with the Seahawks about it over several weeks. This news came shortly after Seattle released fellow Seattle wide receiver Tyler Lockett on Wednesday.

Why does Metcalf make sense in Green Bay? He’s essentially a more-developed version of Christian Watson, a big-body receiver who can play on the outside and take the top off of the defense. Without Watson for at least three-quarters of the season, due to his ACL tear, the Packers are in search of a player like Metcalf to keep defenses honest in 2025.
Is a DK and Devante pairing possible? Now that would be the shit.

Picking a SB winning team is a crapshoot. Picking $91.5 million guaranteed is anything but a crapshoot. I'm sure his agents had feelers out as to how high other teams might go, and I'll bet nobody else was close to that number.

    Lukewarm on Metcalf

Thuney is plenty good and the Bears are improved on the OL for sure, but I have to think Thuney's gonna want an extension and he's 32.

Rodgers was actually not plenty good last year with good skill players around him - he was ranked right about 22nd, I believe. If he plays for LV or the Giants (supposedly the front runners) he's not going to be better. He's a year older and those teams are lousy. He's not good enough to carry a team like he used to, and he's a PR nightmare.
Minnesota has McCarthy waiting in the wings, they'll let Darnold walk and get a nice comp pick. McCarthy's contract is cheap and reports were that he looked good in camp last year. Kevin O'Connell didn't win Coach of the Year for being an idiot.

Is Joey Bosa still any good? He won't be 30 until July.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

The Bengals have taken the rare step of granting All-Pro DE Trey Hendrickson permission to seek a trade. “It’s been an honor and privilege to represent Cincinnati over the last four years,” said Hendrickson, the NFL’s sack leader. “I love this city and organization. I appreciate the privilege of now being allowed to explore my options.”

Hendrickson has 1 year left on his contract with a base salary of 15.8M

Seahawks initial asking price for DK Metcalf is a 1st and a 3rd.
That on top of the $30M per year he wants in a new contract.
I doubt they will get those type picks. Interesting to see how this shakes out.

Betting favorite for Bosa is the 49ers. They need more aging, injured veteran players.

Bosa has been hurt and not that great for a few years now. He's tempting but I'm not sure you want him at the asking price.
With all these players asking for trades, I suspect it's because they want extensions NOW and (given the FA market) don't want to wait for it.

A lot of these players are B- players looking for A+ contracts, and with the salary cap getting a bigger bump there are dumb owners and GMs they might get them. Look at the transaction wire and all the players getting released - their contracts are bad overpays, GB doesn't need that.
With free agency remember this: smart teams don't let good players walk, if they do hit the market they are either overpriced or no longer good (or both). Buyer beware.

Commanders releasing DT Jonathan Allen. Allen is 30, made 2 Pro Bowls. Played in just 8 games last year due to in jury.

Just saw that Bosa has a total of 14 sacks in the past 3 years.
Packers should say no to aging, injury prone players.

The Seahawks are trading QB Geno Smith to the Raiders, reuniting him with his coach Pete Carroll, per The Insiders, as Seattle hits reset.

It’s a third-round pick going to Seattle. And a new QB for Las Vegas.

Wow, I look at that deal and can't decide which team came out worse.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

He said it wasn't about the money...

The Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett have agreed on a contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money, making the star defensive end the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, sources told ESPN.

The Browns announced the four-year extension, which runs through the 2030 season, on Sunday but did not disclose financial terms.

Aaron Jones is back with the Vikings, sources say, getting a 2-year, $20M deal with $13M guaranteed. Negotiated by agent Drew Rosenhaus.
