I wonder if the NFL owners are starting to wonder if they made a mistake picking this guy. I've not been impressed with him, and a scandal would not sit well with a lot of people. The NFL brings in a ton of money because of a great image that Tagliabue helped to nurture. So far, this guy is no Tagliabue.Originally posted by MadtownPackerIf this turns out to be true goddell will look like a total moron. He was quick to cover everything up and make this all go away and now it is knocking on his door on his leagues biggest day. He is such a piece of crap.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

What makes you think Tags would've handled this situation any differently?Originally posted by JoemailmanI wonder if the NFL owners are starting to wonder if they made a mistake picking this guy. Truth be told, it was Goodell's own crackdown on videotaping in the first place (not Tags...who overlooked what the Pats had probably been doing for years) that caused the Spygate scandal to come up in the first place. Goodell did crack down pretty hard as well...loss of a first round pick and a $500k fine? When did Tags ever come down that hard on someone?
Claiming that the scandal would be blamed on Goodell is pretty dumb. The only people who should be blamed for a video taping scandal would be those who perpetrated it. It certainly isn't Goodell's fault. My signature has NUDITY in it...whatcha gonna do?

What I can't understand is that Goodell destroyed all the tapes the Pats gave him. You never do that. Lock 'em up somewhere, bury them in a pit, but don't destroy stuff. it only makes people wonder what you're trying to hide. He should know better.

The issue of what happend at the NYJ game is a totally seperate incident, the tapes he got from the Pats didn't go back any further than 2006. Anything else pertaining to these NEW allegations have yet to be provided to him, and they certainly weren't destroyed.Originally posted by MadtownPackerIf this turns out to be true goddell will look like a total moron. I agree that Goodell should not have trashed the 06-07 tapes, but he apparently did so because they completely matched up with other evidence he was presented, I guess he felt they weren't needed. Still VERY STUPID to burn them up.
But it's way too early to judge him for what has been alledged for 2002, he's been provided nothing at this point, other than the Pats getting nipped for the same kind of thing already. This kid Walsh holds the keys (or maybe he doesn't) to what Goodell can and will be able to do about 2002, we'll see what Walsh does.

And exactly who the hell said the stuff on the destroyed tapes only went bakc to 2006? goddell??? Of course he will say that. After seeing the NBA and MLB ridiculed there is no way the commish would want to have shit like this hanging over the NFL's back.Originally posted by twosevenThe issue of what happend at the NYJ game is a totally seperate incident, the tapes he got from the Pats didn't go back any further than 2006. "Finally, Goodell declared that the materials the league destroyed contained no evidence of Super Bowl cheating. But the material went back only to 2006. The Patriots' Super Bowl wins came in 2002, 2004 and 2005."

WTF is Arlen Specter doing wasting his time and our money worrying about "Spygate" or whatever the fuck the latest Patriots BS is being called? Why don't you go track down all the emails the White house lost and stop wasting time over the damn tapes the NFL commissioner trashed.C.H.U.D.
