I would just like to make several points about my projected roster.

    1. I hope to God that Whitticker is cut this summer. That would mean that one of the new / young guys stepped up or the Packers picked up a nice FA after June 1. A nice reserve T would be nice.

    2. I thought about putting Popps on the PUP list and keeping 10 OL or 10 DL. But, if he comes back during camp, he shoud make the team.

At wide receiver, I think one of the veterans (Gardner, Ferguson, Boerigter) will be let go. I think Rodgers make it on his return abilities if nothing else. I also think either Bookman or Martin will make the team.

The Guard situation still worries me. You have correctly listed 2 rookies and Coston as our guards. Coston has had 4 regular season plays. I suppose the coaching staff may figure they can throw Klemm in there if need be. However, a veteran pick-up here is still a possibility.

I agree...Boerigter hasn't shown much this far in his NFL career. Unless he has a very good camp, I could easily see the Packers keeping choose to go with someone who has more upside long term. Veterans like him are a dime a dozen, and can always be had on the free agent market if needed in a pinch.

I don't know that Whitticker is that bad - he was a rookie who started week 1 last year, and he can only get better from here.

If the coaches decide he is the

I wonder if 6 WRs will be kept. Especially since they seem to be leaning towards Woodson playing some O, I wouldn't be surprised to see only 5 on the squad. That would make for a pretty spirited battle for the last spot.

Do you think Bookman is a pipe dream? If he shows anything during camp I don't know how that kind of speed and size clears waivers and lands on the practice squad. The 4.2 40 is rare. Harry Sydney noticed him in his notes, so he must have some ability to catch.

It takes so much more than speed and good hands to become a really good NFL receiver, though. Billy Schroeder would have been a pro-bowler if the case were otherwise.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

My only take is that Boerigter will most likely make this squad. He is a veteran and there is no way that I see the Packers taking 2 rookies and a 1st year player in Lucas into the start of the season.

I think Underwood is a lock to make this team, and that Roman will most likely be cut for Culver.

Will the Packers keep 5 defensive tackles? Will Allen make the final roster?

I think Moll is heading to the Practice squad, but if he shows any promise in camp then Whitticker might be packing his bags.

I agree with Nutz about Moll. He's this year's version of Coston, but with even less experience. He was a tightend until the 2005 season, so he has only one year experience at Nevada as an O-lineman. Apparently his "bulk up" to O-lineman size has been mostly since the end of the 2004 season, and the feeling is that it will take another year or so to improve his strength, quickness, etc. with his new weight.

Ya just look at him. The weight that he put on is not all "good" weight. He needs to get more muscle mass. And maybe a different hair do.

Um, is anyone going to comment about Nutz's ode to Murphy's love of trees?

Or has everyone else become numb to it?

I'm kind of horrified, but at the same time, you have to admire that kind of enthusiasm, even if it is for a very bad cause.

Well Nutz, I'm not so sure. The way I see it, is that, it is very unlikely that Gardner, Ferguson & Boerigter all make the team. They are all marginal veterans up to this point in their career, and I say that two of the three make it. The one that exceeds expectations in camp makes #2, the second makes #3 and the other gets cut.

I think it is 90% that Rogers makes the team at #5, as it is HIGHLY unlikely that TT cuts a 4th round pick unless he's a complete screw-up. Jennings has #4 locked up to start the season. Lucas heads to the practice squad or is claimed by someone else since WR was so depleted in the draft. WR's will be decided early, except for the last spot to give guys a chance to catch on elsewhere.

I think that if Davenport makes the team, it is doubtful that the team keeps 2 other fullbacks. They've already talked about moving Davenport to fullback to get him on the field more. They need the spot elsewhere for a developing player.

This may be the year that Rob Davis doesn't make the team. So many developing players, that if someone else can long snap, he's in trouble.

I doubt that White/Spitz/Wells all make the roster. I think White is the odd man out, if Wells claims starting center. I think Whitticker stays if he puts a dent in the extra weight. Too much starting experience to let go for someone such as White.

Barry going on IR is a blessing of sorts. They're not ready to give up on him, so if he stays in GB and works with the strength coach, he'll get another shot. I believe that would have been a tough cut.

Finally, I think they keep 10 DL, to try and develop someone, its too soon to say if Allen stays, but doubtful unless Peterson turns back into the invisible man. Heard very little about Colin Cole in minicamp, I wonder if he disappeared also?

i agree with those who say that ferg, boegriter, or gardner are going to be cut. ferguson has not performed up to potential but is probably the safest among the three. its most likely between gardner and boe cos they both signed one yaer deals (right?) gardner was an emergency pickup at the end of last season, doesnt guarantee anything among bunch of rookies and 1 yr veterens. aside from one decent year, boe was really quiet for KC, who werent loaded with good WRs. i think it will be boe vs gard and bookman vs martin til the final cut

I don't think GB is going to keep both Gardner and Boerigter. There is only room for one stop gap WR on the roster IMO. Neither of those guys will ever be much. I'd rather have Rodgers and another project than both of those dueche bags.

This is the part that worries me the most, seems there is no depth at all here in case of injury. KGB is getting only slighty better at run defense, and his pass rushing is suffering a lot because of it. I hope either Montgomery or the underachieving Peterson can come in on running downs and spell KGB, while being effective in the process. Otherwise I see it being a long year on Defense, with or without the improvements they made to other areas. I think these four hold the key to us being a contender, or below average this year. Wish we could have bolstered the depth somehow on that line this year.
