    NHL names...

'Missing' Link Geotz (pronounced gets) was a burly unibrow enforcer for the Winnepeg Jets.

I remember having a hockey card from the Edmonton Oilers (sometime in the 80's, I believe) and their backup goalie's name had no vowels - not even a 'y'!

If I remember correctly, the Packers had a linebacker - in the 80's I think - named Michael Hunt. No announcer ever dared shorten his first name to Mike. I wonder if it is the same guy writing for JSO....naaaahhh. Couldn't be, could it?

Also, if memory servers me correctly, the Vikings had a linebacker by the name of Jeff Siemon. Can you imagine that call on the radio.."Oh my Lord, Siemon is all over the field!"
My house is in Georgia but Wisconsin is my home.

I had an Asian friend with the last name Jhu. I once dated a Jewish girl. Hilarity ensued.

        Phone conversation
Me: I'm going downtown with xxx.
        Her: who that?
        Me: Jhu
        her: what did you say?
        Me: xxx Jhu!
        her: xxx the jew????
Me (laughing): no, his last name is Jhu. xxx Jhu

Have we forgotten so soon that great wide receiver, drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, CRAPHONSO THORPE?
"What's one more torpedo in a sinking ship?"
          Lynn Dickey, 1984

"Never apologize, mister. It's a sign of weakness."
John Wayne, "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon"

Totally agree with Harry Colon. If I were him, I would've legally changed my name or been the first "HE HATE ME".

              tyler

Tyler, you know he brings some of this upon himself. He could have at least referenced himself as "Harold Colon" or "Henry Colon." He had options. But no, "ahhh, I'll go with Harry Colon, thank you very much." He deserves the mockery.

[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.
