  • Packers interested in Chiefs TE Wilson

Tom Silverstein and JSO think the Packers may be interested in Chiefs TE Kris Wilson. Adam Caplan from Scout.com seems a pretty gung-ho about the young TE.” Kris Wilson/Kansas City Chiefs (UFA) - He was a pretty accomplished collegiate tight end and had a very good Senior Bowl week back in 2004. But he suffered a broken leg which curtailed his rookie season. Wilson's biggest problem is that he was drafted by a team that has a future Hall of Famer (Tony Gonzalez) as the starter at his position, so he was moved to fullback last season. But he has a ton of talent and could develop into a solid starter with another team. He's one of the true sleepers of free agency.”

Wilson fits TT’s FA profile. Wilson is a young player, playing on a deep roster that hasn’t gotten a full opportunity to play. Wilson is 6’2” 252, 26 years old, with decent speed and good hands. He can play TE and fullback, although he is really more of an H-back type. He has shown some flashes in limited action and many scouts think he might be a steal. A former player at Pitt (another mark in his favor with M3, Pitt guys stick together) Wilson should be a medium salary FA and is the kind of player that can add versatility to the Packer offense. I would look for TT to make a serious run at this kind of prospect

I shudda known better than to start a thread on a back-up TE FA on the day Brett retires.

TT's unhibernation during free agency is the only good news out there
