"I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. The problem is getting him to put down his beer and come out of the stands and do those things." - Danny MurraughTags: None

Nothing to get excited about; but nonetheless a good move I guess
If true our free agency has already been more successful than last yearTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Not sure what his health situation is (concussions), but if healthy, that would be a sensible move. Just the type of solid vet they need to backup Rodgers.I can't run no more
With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Completely agree on this; I actually was quite intrigued by Quinn Gray. Not sure what Trent Green really adds but an old injury prone stiff.Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersI'd rather have Quinn Gray or even David Carr, but maybe he's a good mentor.
But I'm still fine with any signing we have.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Trent Green is older than me. We'll both be 38 soon. Unfortunately, he's not a athletic freak like Favre, so he broke down a couple of years ago. He's gone from a being decent NFL QB to pretty much useless. Again, maybe he can be a good mentor. He won't win many games at this point in his career. It's not a bad signing though. If he's not playing, he can't get any concussions.
I can see it now though. Both Rodgers and Green are going to get hurt.
Brett Favre starts every game for 17 NFL seasons.
I'd say the odds of both Rodgers and Green getting injured this year are better than 50/50."There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Older than you ? Shit, why didn't we just sign you
Thompson raced to sign the oldest dude in the NFL to dissuade Favre from thinking of returning..........LOL
I'M JUST KIDDINGTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Trent Green? C'mon. If you're gonna sign a dude to be a mentor/backup why don't we just go ahead and give the Majik Man a shot? He's only in his mid 40s, he can still fling the ball."I've got one word for you- Dallas, Texas, Super Bowl"- Jermichael Finley

McCarthy would have been out of KC WAY before Trent Green was there."I would love to have a guy that always gets the key hit, a pitcher that always makes his best pitch and a manager that can always make the right decision. Trent Green knows he won't come in and be the starter. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't pick up another FA/Cap Casualty QB and one in the draft before training camp. Good arm, accuracy, but isn't as "smart" as Brett when it comes to reading defenses. The big plus is that he comes from a long career in the AFC from a team that went through poor running years like Green Bay.
For what it's worth, Troy aikman thinks Favre will be back by training camp. Basically, once that time of year starts to roll around, he will go nuts knowing he still has a shot to win a super bowl. Personally, I think he will be back to. The way this whole thing went down was just weird. People are coming out of the woodwork stating how much the Giants game is still bothering him. Favre is an emotional guy and I am sure that last pass is haunting him. Once he gets over that, I think he will want to come back. You can only mow your yard so many times."Once the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.”
