While we're kind of on the subject, would anyone like to see us put our numbers in numerical order? donno if anyone noticed, but they're not.

Packers have the same rule as the NFL when it comes to retired players, they wait 5 years (Larry McCarren said on TV last night).

His exact quote was, "Five years from now when he's eligible, you can bet #4 will be up on the wall"
well blow-up that rule as far as the Pack is concerned. do it whenever he's ready!! if it's tomorrow, do it tomorrow.

Pete Dougherty of the Press Gazette speculates that Favre's number will be retired early next season.

              From Packersnews.com:

Favre presumably will be making at least one trip to Green Bay this year, probably sometime early in the season when the Packers retire his number. The franchise has retired the number of only five players — Don Hutson (14), Tony Canadeo (3), Bart Starr (15), Ray Nitschke (66) and Reggie White (92). When they added White's No. 92 to the façade on the north end at Lambeau Field, the Packers arranged the numbers so they could add Favre's No. 4 and have the numbers centered under the scoreboard. They also have a Favre jersey in storage that will hang in the team's trophy room when they retire his number.

My opinion? His epic start streak began on Sept 27th, 1992. I would prefer for the Packers to petition the NFL to have Sept 27th, 2009 be a home game for the Packers next season...and retire his number at that game 17 years to day after his streak began.
Leaper, that's a while to wait yet, but an excellent idea !!

                just a swelled head ?

That is good, Leaper. I wonder who we write to to get that done. I bet they'd make that one a prime time game. Ratings bonanza!

I heard an interesting tidbit on the radio. once they retire bretts number, no one will ever wear the number 4 for any of the 3 major sports teams in wisconsin.

wisconsin and the number 4 have done pretty well.

I dont think they should retire his jersey. Honestly I think every starting QB in GB should have to wear #4
