  • Lack of Interest in Draft?

Is anybody else a bit out-of-touch with this year's draft? It's in large part because of our low draft position, but this year's draft class isn't really compelling. No big superstars, few interesting storylines or sub-plots, etc. Only today did I realize the draft is this Saturday. Honestly, I can't even name that many players in this draft.

    Anybody have the same thing?

I'm not into it as much this year. I'm sure it'll be more interesting next weekend with all the "Ted Did What????" threads.

good to know I'm not the only one. Of course I've been insanely busy with Track and school and being gone to Texas for a week, but my interest has been pretty low. I think it was "more fun" when we were towards the top of the draft....but not during the season :P

Normally on a scale of 1 to 10 (maximum interest) I'd say I'm in the 9 range

        This year I'm about a 4-5.

When I think why, here are my thoughts

        1. Still pretty disappointed we did not seize the moment with a SB starting at us

        2. My expectations are significantly lower with a new QB coming in; this is probably the biggest reason of my dimming interest.

        3. Limited action and news, once again, in free agency, had dimmed my Packer attention and I've been following the Bucks and Brewers more

        4. We draft late at 30, and with the exception of AJ Hawk, which was a no brainer at 5, TT never drafts who I think he's going to anyways.

I'll still watch the draft, but not with the normal anticipation and knowledge I usually have when it begins

Honestly, I'm as into it as I ever am. I just think overall (for all 32 NFL teams) there's just a lack of compelling stories going into the draft. There's not half as much buzz about McFadden now as there was about Bush, when McFadden is most probably the superior NFL talent. We're products of our experiences and surroundings and there's not that much to say about the draft overall more or less. But I'm still into it.

            i'm with b's #4

we have no clue what TT is going to do at #30, we can guess 10,00 different things he might do, and we probably still won't get it right

plus, TT has made it perfectly clear that as long as he's in charge packer fans are going to be bored off their asses during the offseasons

i'm probably at a 5 this year out of ten. in fact i'm thinking about doing something else next saturday instead of watch the first day

This is the lowest interest draft in years. Not just for us, for many teams.

              - It's a toss-up for a OT or a DE as the #1 guy?

              - Lot's of teams want out of the top 10 to avoid paying for perceived mediocre talent.

              - We are way down on the food chain.

              - TT's like a Chinese puzzle anyhow, I really can't get all that fired up at this years draft.

I also have waning interest in the draft. Perhaps the main reason for me is there are so many times where a draftee is a great college player but flops in the pros. Conversely, there are many 6th and 7th rounders who had good but hardly superlative college careers and suddenly blossom at the pro level.

Scouts and GM's still have to analyze all the "Measurables" and "Unmeasurables" about college players. They just have to realize the majority of their selections will not pan out.

                  Ditto.

Yet "Ted Did What????" threads are less interesting than last year's "Fire Ted Thompson!!" threads.

The most overrated event in all of sports. I am as interested as I have always been.

I agree that there is a lack of interest. Why is that? It's a really good, deep draft. I suppose the big names aren't there at the top. Overall, this draft is definitely deeper imo than last year. There are a boatload of good DEs, RBs and DBs.

With that said, I am rather disinterested. I don't know why it is. I am pretty burned out on football lately which is why I haven't been posting much.

I'm sure this place will be a zoo on Saturday but probably lesser so than years past.

If I had the energy I'd go find last years NFL Draft Thread and Bump it

                        That was a frickin monster

The Packers are returning 21 of 22 starters and the 22nd spot has already been won thus this years draft will be for depth.

Not very interesting therefore a lack of intrest.
