So, she can't win. If she's good-looking, that's why she got the job. Do you think she's good at her job?"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

Of course she got the job cause she looks good, so do most on-air talent...that is why "they" say.."a face made for radio."Originally posted by HarveyWallbangersSo, she can't win. If she's good-looking, that's why she got the job. Do you think she's good at her job?
Yes, her job is to look good, get the horny male students psyched, and ask inane questions.
C'mon, Harv..would you really miss anything if she wasn't there?
When she actually performs in the role of a journalist like Shelley Smith then we can start thinking of her as more than just eye candy.

I don't have ENSP's job description.........and I'm certainly not going to create one because my gut tells me you will nitpick at it.
She covers a mutlitude of sporting events. She interviews well. She is fluent with her speech in front of the camera. She is good at what she does.
She would not have got the job if she was not qualified and now she's more than capable with or without the looks.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

She doesn't ask hard hitting questions. She doesn't do any real research. She does puff work.
If she wasn't good looking, she wouldn't have the job.

Obviously we just have to agree to disagree I don't but that girls get their ESPN jobs due to their looks, and I stand by my comments that she does her job well. If your viewpoint differs, so be it.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. I am curious as to what evidence you have that she doesn't do her job well?!? She's good looking, but she's not a super model or anything. She has what most would consider the dream job in sports reporting working for the #1 company. Explain to me what reason their is to believe that she is unqualified?!? Seems like she's awfully bright, hardworking, and constantly on the go to me.

I'd say Erin Andrews is probably my favorite sideline reporter, and obviously I could care less about her looks.
I totally disagree that anyone can do Andrews' job well. Perhaps more than any other broadcasting role, the sideline reporter has to think on his or her feet. Unlike the guys in the booth who merely banter with each other, she has to interact with coaches, players, and fans in an unscripted way.
Personally, I think she does an excellent job. She is way more knowledgeable about sports than some of the other "pretty faces" that have held similar positions. She isn't annoying and doesn't ask ridiculous questions. She is an above-average interviewer and has a great rapport with the athletes and coaches. Her interviews don't come across as fake and stilted - at least not compared with the typical sideline interview. Sure, a lot of information that she "reports" is scripted and fed to her. So what? It still takes a tremendous amount of poise to handle a live-game situation. I teach these kind of communication skills for a living, and very few people truly have the ability to handle this kind of job well.

You're gonna smack me in the head but if we (Erin and I) had a conversation I wouldn't remember a word she said.
