  • Ok, just to be clear...he was out partying, hooked up with some guys, left with them (presumably thinking they were heading to another club) and they rolled him?

At this moment..that appears to be close to the story.

However, police aren't saying that they couldn't have been part of his crew that night.

If i was to guess...maybe some of Javon's crew knew them..and were then part of his crew.

All i know, is that Ty has met plenty of people in his 20s..and left with them after a night at the bar, club, tavern....ty isn't going to harsh out on javon for doing what ty and others have done thousands of times.

Being a pro-athlete with a fat new contract vs a nobody are two totally different things when you are around or leave with people you don't know.

We'll probably never know the true details of this story. The end.

        • That's why they have those rookie talks where they explain all of the dangers that go along with being a wealthy 20 something.

Poor Javon though, nobody could have ever predicted things like this could happen, well except for anyone with a brain and the NFL who already told Javon to avoid exactly this type of situation. Every NFL player I've heard said it was a shame but that's the world they live in and they have to adjust. You think it's time that maybe Javon adjust too? I guess at some point it's just called common sense. Javon lacks it. If he dies it will be a true example of natural selection in the human herd. Call it overly trusting, call it a good guy in bad situations, but in the grand scheme of life it really just turns into dead and that's the bottom line, really.

true. but, you also have to think if you are javon and you are in vip and they are in vip and they know your crew that they are ok.

Finally, i highly doubt the fat contract plays into it at all. Not like they held him hostage.

The bottom line is Javon is fine to go out...when you consider how many rich and rich athletes are out in the clubs and a small percentage have problems.

Please show me where the NFL counsels against going out. that is just dumb...then basically every nfl player is doing exactly what the nfl is against.

And, a certain packer is in the GOING OUT biz.

              Stop being a hater.

I didn't read where they were in VIP and they they all knew each other. But it doesn't matter. There are a lot of nobody's in VIP, it's all about who you know.

You're right, most athletes go out without problems...perhaps because they don't leave with someone they don't know!! I don't think any of us wished this on Javon, for sure.... just saying that he's basically sharp as a marble.

I believe JH is referring to the symposium that all draft picks much attend prior to training camp. Teaches them how to handle their finances, the media, security, personal conduct, substance abuse.....you get the picture.

                  • Yes, and all college freshman attend mandatory orientation sessions that warn them about the dangers of drinking and sexual assault. Does that prevent students from partying?? Not to mention that the NFL new player orientation is supposedly a big joke. Again, pretty much like freshman orientation.

No one thinks it will happen to them. Nobody. And especially not an athletic young male.

I don't really care if people don't like Javon or think he's dumb or a poor decision-maker or whatever. That does not matter. Condemning Javon is the same as condemning every other victim. Victims don't break the law. Perpetrators do.

                    • Well, when he's dead I"m sure it will be a big constilation prize, not having broken a law and all.

Some things are more important than the law, Ty and FC. Really. I'm sure as soon as you break out of that rigid line of thinking it will come to you.

                      • yeah i dont hold the laws in very high esteem when so recently they told blacks they couldnt even drink out of the same water fountain.

im not sure im going to go around living my life in accordance to anything other than what i personally feel is wrong and/or right.

... and ive only been to jail once. well, once... in america. :P

nearing 30, have grey hair and god damn, ive had one helluva ride so far.

i sure am glad ive done all this "experimenting"

                              Bobble,

The point is that you can find those people..or rather, they will find you no matter where you go. javon could be playing bball at the rec center and they would find him...or "smarter" criminals that would rip him off with biz investments, etc.

Javon, like i said, is a nice guy...too trusting. That will haunt you. Look, it is easy for you to say anyone with good judgement..but, it is hard for you to back it up. People get taken every day..smart people. That is what makes con men, etc...good at what they do. They prey on trusting, naive folks.

I suppose you wouldn't have trusted Ebbers, the enron crew, or Dennis Kozlowski?

P.S. I can only hope you are better at your job than your choice of adjectives. Sultry doesn't mean what you think it does. Unless you think those characters were oppresively hot and humid...or that they were sexual.
I type faster than I think sometimes...I meant surly. I can only hope you are more forgiving in real life than you come across on the computer. I was thinking about what I was saying and instead of surly I typed sultry...shit happens all the time, but usually people don't get stupid and personal in pointing it out.

As far as you once again taking a shot, and making this personal....well, I addressed that in the RR. You are pretty much a petty pathetic prick. For someone who is all up in tex's junk all the time you sure do like to take little personal digs.

If you want to compare brain power find a better way to come at someone than typing a wrong word on the fly and not proofreading well enough. What a jack off....too bad it took me this long to fully appreciate the level you have reached.

PS..yes people get ripped off in other ways/venues, but again...when you put yourself in a situation known to result in bad things it is much more likely to happen. I'm not saying he is not a good guy..I'm saying he is an idiot.

Ok. You meant surly...take a joke.

Again, though...you would be hardpressed under the common def of surly to point at people at a club as being surly.

                                1. churlishly rude or bad-tempered: a surly waiter.
                                2. unfriendly or hostile; menacingly irritable: a surly old lion.
                                3. dark or dismal; menacing; threatening: a surly sky.

I higly doubt if they were any of the above, he woulda got in a vehicle with him.

Which adjective will you try now to paint these people with...one that you can clearly discern from not knowing them, not seeing how they were dressed, not seeing their actions, not seeing their clothes, etc.

                                I await with amusement.

Ripped off: Again, blame the victim. People that get ripped off have it done so because they cons are good at it...no way of knowing..hathaway anyone.
