Family night is back once again, but absent is an opposing team to scrimmage. After the embarrassment they received during last year's family night scrimmage by the Bills, I wonder if that played into the decision to have the scrimmage in-house. That way the scrimmage can be controlled, and all the fans can go home with a good taste in their mouths, after watching a staged theatrical performance. No surpise blitzes, no opposing team to compete against, just a controlled atmoshere that will shine a positive light on the team.
Do I think this was a good move by John Jones and company? From a marketing standpoint, yes. But from a football standpoint, no. I think the more competition you can have in an unfriendly enviroment, can only make you better, and it might also reveal some weaknesses. It might give the coaches time to remedy the problems, before they start counting wins and losses for real.
Any theories or comments? Or is it just me spinning another conspired tangled web of venom?
