We reached the NFC championship game last year. We should of made the Super Bowl. This year we've lost Favre, but our team has gotten stronger as a whole, the young players developing. Throw in a possible Pro-Bowl DE coming to down in Taylor and I see no reason why this shouldn't be a Super Bowl or bust season.
The duty of the GM is to make sure the team gets better or sustains their high level of play. TT has done that. We should be able to win the NFC, no doubt in my mind. Now, I'm not a kool-aid drinker. I called us to miss the playoffs last year. But I think this team is going to be a better team this year than it was last year. Does that mean we'll go 14-2 or better? No. But we are a better team and this is Super Bowl or bust.

When your season ends in the NFC Title game, the only logical goal the next year is the Super Bowl.

any leader of my team should expect the team to go 16-0 and then all the way through the playoffs. winners mentality is huge and preparing for anything except victory is counter-intuitive and a breeding ground for excuses and selfish play.
last thing he needs the team talking is like some of the clowns on here ... "oh we lost brett, we might as well not even play this season" ... when i stepped down from my company, the last thing the new owners did is throw a huge "going away party" in honor of getting it to where it was... in fact, part of the deal was that i refrained from business contact with employees to allow the new leadership a chance to establish their mentality entirely without "waaah, it was better with tony!"

agree...if we still had Favre.
If Eli Manning can win the Super Bowl for his team than Aaron Rodgers sure as hell can.
Maybe, but Eli didn't do it his first year starting.
Believe me, I really hope the transition from Favre to Rodgers is sweet. But I think there's a ton of kool-aid flowing around here lately. I'm taking the wait and see stand.

Aaron's first year will be much different than Eli's first year. Aaron's going to be one of the most seasoned QBs in the last few years to make his first start. He's got a lot more knowledge and practice than a lot of these "thrown into the fire" QBs.
I'll take a wait and see approach, as all of us will, but I expect big things out of Aaron.

True.

I can't say I expect big things from Aaron. But then again you don't need a superstar at QB to get to the SB....we all witnessed that when Rex got there. Packers got a lot going for them this season.
darlin -- your stance is way more reasonable than most of ours but the way i look at it .... it's kinda like believing in jesus.
i dont wanna close myself off just in case there is a heaven (yes, i know... i wouldnt be going anyway so stfu mission!)
if i get excited about it now and it doesnt happen, then all i have to deal with is the heartache once the realization has set in.
so 50% of my time is spent being positive, the other 50% not...
your stance, i dunno... it could end up just being all-around shitty :P
This "darlin" is more than 50% positive. :P
I just don't think the transition is going to be quite as easy as many others believe....hope I'm wrong. And like I said above, if sexy rexy did it, our Aaron can do it too.
There's no reason at all--barring extremes of injuries or Rodgers bombing out in a way that really shouldn't happen--that the Packers wouldn't be a strong pick for the Super Bowl with 12-14 regular season wins.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?
