I'd say he's talking out of his ass! That's quite a statement.

Yes, we've got depth. But we don't have the market cornered on NFL players. If this was the case, TT sure as hell better get some low round picks for those guys instead of out and out cutting them.

Agree; if we're already this incredibly deep one would think we should be acquiring stars. I just don't buy it. We have a lot of backups/lower tier roster guys on the team that are fighting for a job; I'm not sure how many of those are NFL locks on other rosters
TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

We'll see. It's not easy to acquire stars in the NFL. Also, I think you are inferring that Thompson should have went after more big name FAs (again) and not worried about all the draft picks. I don't buy it. I think the competition is what has brought out the best in these young players. They've worked hard and pushed each other. I've never bought into the theory that Thompson should do things differently now that the Packers were one game from the Super Bowl (especially considering the injuries NFL teams go through). Keep bringing in as many good, young guys as you can and let them compete. If you have to cut some good ones, so be it. Occasionally, bring in a veteran FA when you think they fit what you need in your program. It also takes that player wanting to come to your team. People seem to forget that. I don't believe Moss really wanted to go to Green Bay. I don't believe Jason Taylor wants to go to Green Bay. You move on.

The Packers have plenty of guys who can/do make big plays

Bigby, Woodson, Harris, Barnett, Hawk, Kampman, KGB (in pass rushing role), Jolly and Pickett (as run stoppers), Poppinga (as run stopper), Chillar (in pass defense), Rouse, Hunter, Blackmon, Barbre, B Jackson and others on ST's, Clifton (as pass blocker), Tauscher (as run blocker), Jennings, Grant, Lee, etc. . . . . There are plenty of other players who will step up from the youngest roster in the NFL.

I see a lot of reason to be optimistic for the 2008 Packers. The first reason is going to be a quick glance at this 53 man roster when it's widdled down. I think it's going to be the deepest roster we've had since the SB years. I can't wait to see this team hit the field. I think the ST's, in particular, is going to be absolutely stifling this year. The Vikings are going to come out on Monday night and get punched square in the mouth.

Most likely cuts who could make another team:

          Tony Moll
          Noah Herron
          Vernand Morency
          Mike Montgomery
          Abdul Hodge
          Jerrett Bush
          Shaun Bodiford
          Tyrone Culver
          John Kuhn
          Junius Coston
          I can't run no more

I'm not sure about Herron. Are we talking a guy who could possible hang onto a roster spot for a few weeks? Or somebody that would be a solid backup for another team?

I'm guessing one or two of the WRs that get cut might become decent backups elsewhere.

I think Herron will have a job in the NFL next year for sure, quite possibly even in Green Bay.

Jenkins only had one sack all year? He was playing so well in preseason, if he could stay healthy he could be a force at DE, but he ends up having to play DT a lot too.
                  Thanks Ted!

But I won't miss Ruvell much if he doesn't make the team. Thompson fell in love with some 6'3" poor man Bill Schroeder named Nelson. Nelson runs as slow as a turtle, but he's faster than Martin.

I think Martin will make the team as the #5 guy.
Bill Schroeder was a practice squad guy. How can a guy who's faster than Schroeder, bigger than Schroeder, and drafted in the second round be a "poor man [sic] Bill Schroeder"?

Your falling into the theory of stars are born...it just doesn't work that way, they are developed at this level as their bodies mature and they learn. Todays 4th rounder with promise could be tomorrows Kampman or JAllen.

TT is using the right approach, as we move forward you will all be on his jock singing his holy name.

10-15 might be overstating it, but TT has an eye for talent, and he brings in guys with a shot...some he will miss on, he is human, I would think 5-8 will be outright flops, but the other 7-10 we cut will land somewhere and probably 3-4 will start and one might even be a star eventually.
