Titans finally trade QB McNair to Ravens

What a sad end to McNair's storied tenure as a Oiler/Titan. He should've retired as a Oiler/Titan, having been a loyal player for 11 years. Does anyone else think its sad how he was somewhat unceremoniously dumped for Young? I know the situations aren't totally comparable, but it's kind of like Favre being ditched for Rodgers and shipped off to another team.

I think this situation more closely mirrors Wahles, in that the contract forced the teams hand more than the players ability. I am not at all impressed with how the Titans handled this. I think they could have discreetly gotten a 4th months ago without dragging a class act like McNair's name through the muck.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. This is a very unfortunate situation for both sides. However, I am not sure that McNair will be that successful in Baltimore.

It was a ridiculous cap number, that neither the Titans or McNair's agent should have agreed to.

Having a number like that makes it impossible for a player and a franchise to remain loyal to each other.

Favre has never had a cap number over 15 million. There is a reason for that.

McNair's agent is Bus Cook He is getting pretty heavy criticism for his handling of this whole deal. Brett's contract was set up right. Big Steve's was a trainwreck & he's paying for that now.

I hardly think the bucks he's getting from Baltimore is a train wreck. I'm surprised he's getting that much for next year. McNair did just fine. No need to rag on Bus....

I think Tennessee knew exactly what they were doing. Remember the new CBA rule? Tennessee gets to spread the cap hit over two seasons now, they are no longer in "cap hell". We'll see this report in a couple of days, I'm sure.

Trashing McNair was probably not necessary, as Baltimore probably knew what they were doing, however, it kind of fits with what Tennessee does, doesn't it?

No Mcnair still gets 13 million from the titans and 11 million from the ravens this year he a got a million dollar raise and the titans are fuched.

I don't think so. Remember, the Titans were way above the cap for about 5 years in a row and they kept getting players to push back their bonuses. They wanted to make one more run, but their window closed and they had to cut a ton of players free last season.

Oddly enough, I think since 1999, the Titans have been consistently the most underrated team in the league. They have won 58.5% of their games then, and from 1999-2003 when they were pushing back the contracts, they won almost 74% of their games!!

That sure is a lot of money to play a player that won't take a single snap for your team all year (13 million).

If I was ol' stevie and having all those injury problems, I think I would have hung 'um up and collected a healthy 23 million dollars over the next two years to relax and enjoy life!
