Re: Yo AROD- Shut Up and Play

The way he phrased it was pretty bad, you don't tell people to shutup unless you are trying to piss them off.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I think the idea is that fans should support the team. He hasn't had a chance to earn much criticism or praise just yet.

Holy fuckin mountain out of a mole hill. I dont care if the guy instults my mother to my face. He's not paid to speak publicly he's paid to play football.

God I hate the off season. Feigning offense to something a pro football player said is kinda sad dont you think? Between this thread and the McCarthy and his wife thread....i dont even know what to say anymore. Time to unbunch some panties around here.

Yeah, its amaizing how some on here are ripping ARrod for his comment when they were perfectly fine withh Brett doing the same thing. Its not stupid to criticize Aaron if you were cool with Brett speaking his mind, its hypocritical.

        RODGERS SUCKS UP TO FANS

Posted by Mike Florio on July 2, 2008, 9:24 a.m.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has touched off a major firestorm in Packerland, via the following quote from the new Sports Illustrated: “I don’t feel I need to sell myself to the fans. They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut.”

Rodgers has addressed the remarks, but refused to say whether he was misquoted or whether the remarks were taken out of context.

(In other words, he was quoted properly, and his words weren’t taken out of context.)

“I do care deeply about the fans and I think anybody who has been to training camp and sees I’m a lot of times the last one out signing autographs sees I care about the fans, I care about their opinions,” Rodgers tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

“Everybody wants the fans to care for them and to pull for them and I am no different. That’s why the thing that would bother me the most would be if anybody would be offended by the things that were stated because I do care about the fans. . . .

“The biggest disappointment in this whole thing is if anybody is offended by the stuff I say because I think that my track record pretty much speaks for itself in the way I feel about the fans,”
        Rodgers said.

”I don’t want the wrong message to come out of this.”

Brett already had the 'stuff' to back up his 'bet against me' quote.
Rogers has yet to start a game for heaven's sake. Not saying he can't do it....no reason to see why he won't. But until you've played and won.......just keep quiet..........
Just like PIPL said, your shit wont fly in this context. FAvre already proved himself. And A-Rod? Honestly, i would hope that the guy is more concentrated on football, then he is the media/fans.

I haven't anywhere the fans saying negative things about Rodgers except viking customers (Tavaris is an experienced starter and Rodgers hasn't started an NFL game).

Most Packer fans are smart enough thatRodgers is going to start and things are about as good for him as it will ever be in the NFL.

They've seen what happens when a guy like Romo developes properly and steps right in on a good team. They have also seen those thrown to the wolves early like Alex Smith on a bad team.

It is the media that has hounded Rodgers for months saying he hasn't shown anything yet. Hey media guys, he can't do anything for you until September.

My question is how long until the media starts ripping the 49'ers for taking Smith instead of Rodgers??

Part of being the starting QB for the Packers is handling the media. Rodgers is learning. It will be easier when he has some success on the field.

There are going to be many media stories:

Girlfriend at the game like Romo.

The Brett monkey of his back like Steve Young.

Fans expect more in this town like Brian Griese following Elway.

All of those were media creations and not reality.

Why do people believe everything the media says when they are always having to say the opposite of what they did a few months ago. Remeber the Packers weren't doing enough for Brett and had no name WR's last year?? The same guys now are called one of the NFL's best by the media.

Look how many Brett Favre rumors with no truth and no quotes from him appeared every off season.

It's part of the job no Mr. Rodgers. Learn from Brett and always treat them nicely even when they say bad things about you.

What I think he was saying (esp. after reading the clarifications) was "Look, I love the fans here and love to be a Packer--but I'm going out there to do my job whether you love me or not--and if you don't like me, that's your problem. Brett's gone, and we're all just going to have to deal with it". It might not be how I would have said it, and the people who say he should walk a little humbler until he's been at this a while longer have a point, but I think he's just trying to stay focused on his job instead of trying to win a popularity poll.
Badgerinmaine stole my thunder. When I heard about this yesterday I thought Rodgers may have spoken carelessly because some media fool was asking him about following in Brett's footsteps and the fans' reaction AGAIN. Lord, I'll be glad once TC starts too!!

He hasn't had the opportunity to win an NFL game yet. It sounds to me like he knows he can win. It doesn't matter what any of us think about him. He knows he can win, as do MM and TT and the rest of the Packer organization. They are the only ones who need to know that right now. Not the media. So let A-Rod talk up a storm if he wants to. He wouldn't say these things unless he knew he could back up the shit he says. I hope he keeps talking up a storm.

And for the record, he's absolutely right. Regardless what that weasel Bus Cook says, Favre isn't coming back to play. This is the way it's going to be. Legends retire. A-Rod is our QB now. If you don't wanna get on board, stop following the bandwagon.

It's mine (I tried to say that really quick). I'm not a suit. I'm a camo short wearing dude with a shaved head, a really rough beard and usually a stretched out wife beater with some vitamin water or jack daniels spilled on it somewhere. (aka musician)

I've gotten to the point now where a lot of up and coming producers run into me at studios around town and try to drop me a CD or get me to listen to some hooks they wrote or something so now Ive been putting together a little army of kids I feel have the most potential and trying to help them get to the next level ... shit that I can brand under the Mission name like Dre did with Scott Stortch or whatever... it helps me make sure "i always have what you need" and it allows younger folks a chance to piggy back their way into the industry. everybody wins.

and madtown was right exactly. arod shoulda just clarified and made that a media comment...
