Kevin Jones to the Bears?

Free agent Kevin Jones is leaning towards signing with the Bears over the Steelers, according to Booth Newspapers.

It's a virtual no-brainer. Even if the Steelers were offering a bit more money (which we doubt anyways), clearly the best opportunity for Jones to rehab his value is in Chicago. A deal could be completed by Tuesday night. Jones is expected to receive the league minimum on a one-year agreement.

Kevin Jones has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears on a one-year deal, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. He'll sign this afternoon.

And the air starts leaking out of the Matt Forte sleeper balloon, if only a little. Forte remains the heavy favorite to lead the team in touches, and it's unclear if Jones will even be ready for the season. It's a terrific low-risk move for Chicago, who will now likely use a version of a committee. Training camp reports will be key, but Jones should be a mid-to-late round RB4 pick.
