OK, let's compare:

The Wolf/Holmgren/Harlan years

--1992 9-7 season. No playoffs.
--1993 9-7 season. Second round playoff exit.
--1994 9-7 season. Second round playoff exit.
--1995 11-5 season. Loss in the NFC Championship round.
--1996 13-3 season. Super Bowl champs.

The Thompson/McCarthy/Harlan-Murphy years

--2006 8-8 season. No playoffs.
--2007 13-3 season. Loss in the NFC Championship round.

I'd say the current teams compares favorably to the Holmgren era team.

Thats the point I am making though. What does all of those teams have in common.
