  • Favre on front and back covers of Newsday

"Brett the Jet" made the front and back covers of Newsday, the New York/Long Island tabloid:

And here's their article on the deal:
Breaking News, data & opinions in business, sports, entertainment, travel, lifestyle, plus much more. Newsday.com is the leading news source for Long Island & NYC.

If Brett thought the Wisconsin press was a challenge, he's in for an interesting fall now.
Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.

According to the article, Chad Pennington is really, really, really ticked off and packing his bags. Makes you wonder why the Packers don't sign him. I always thought Pennington's style complemented the Packers' game. His arm is suspect, but he's got a good head on his shoulders. Might make good backup insurance.
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.

I'm not sure how much of his contract the Packers would have to take on, but I think he would make an excellent backup.

Absoulutely, I have always liked Pennington. He is the complete opposite of Favre. Never had good or even above average physical skills, but made up for it with his head. In my opinion the perfect backup to insert for the rest of a game or a few games in the season. Ho won't win you many games on his own, but he won't lose them too.

Pennington's arm is much worse than suspect, it's convicted and sentenced. The thought of Pennington trying to throw in Lambeau against a stiff December wind is not a comforting one. If Rodgers goes down and Brohm isn't NFL ready, the Packers better be able to switch to a power running game.

I hear he can only throw the ball about ten yards, but at least he'd know where to throw it.
