I think I'd rather have a staring lineup of Rodgers, Jennings, and Grant over Brohm, Jones, and Peterson.
I don't think I'd want to give them Rodgers and Jennings when Taylor can do just as good behind their line.
WHAT?!? When did Taylor command 9 men in the box every play?!? Give me a break. He set the all-time record for yards in a game, and was virtually unstoppable when healthy. Dude is a straight up stud.
Taylor rushed for 1200 yards in '06. That's the numbers that you need to win. Obviously, AP is bigger talent than Chester, but AP is not "by far" the best player in the NFC North. If you look in games where RBs were "shut down" AP was shut down 6 times (under 75 yards, 0 TDs) But then again he has games like he did against Chicago and San Diego where he just makes you awe at him. I'm not going to crown him the best player in the NFC North until he does it for another year. Just like I'm not going to crown Grant Top 10 RB until he does it for another year.
What player in better in the NFC North? The Packers best player is probably Clifton or Chuck. The Lions have my boys Kitna and Roy Williams, but I'm not convinced. The Bears have Tommie Harris, who is a stud. The Vikes? AP, Allen and the Williams.

That tells me the Vikes could be scary good.

Trippin’ Tuesday: More spice to Vikes-Pack rivalry

      By Michael Silver, Yahoo! Sports

MANKATO, Minn. – Brett Favre is gone to the Big Apple, awash in a spin cycle of helicopter tours and glorious punishment laps and stream-of-consciousness musings about his latest life turn.

Meanwhile, back in the NFC North, the nasty rivalry the ex-Green Bay legend left behind is hotter than ever.

Between the quarterback’s abortive effort to land in Minnesota and the tampering charge the Packers filed against the Vikings, who were subsequently exonerated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, there’s a lot of lingering bitterness between the two franchises. Throw in the Pack’s status as a team that finished a game away from the Super Bowl last season and the near-universal coronation of the Vikes as the NFC’s trendy power-on-the-rise, and that Sept. 8 regular-season opener at Lambeau Field can’t come soon enough.

This was confirmed Sunday when I visited the Vikings’ training camp home at Minnesota State University and asked Pro Bowl nose tackle Pat Williams whether he’d been keeping up on the Favre saga.

“Damn, that’s their problem,” Williams said. “They’re going through all that as a team, trying to figure out if Favre or (Aaron) Rodgers was the man, while we’ve got the same team we had all offseason. I’m glad they got all that darn press, ‘cause when we go down there it’ll be the kid’s first start and his first damn loss.”

Williams, a 12th-year veteran, didn’t limit his enmity to Rodgers. He’s also gunning for Packers halfback Ryan Grant, who last year was the only player to rush for more than 100 yards against Minnesota, with 119 in a 34-0 Green Bay blowout at Lambeau last November.

“I’m going to try to crush all of ‘em,” Williams said. “That’s been the focus of my whole summer – the Green Bay Packers.”

Rest assured that Williams isn’t alone. All-Pro defensive end Jared Allen, acquired by the Vikings in an April trade with the Chiefs, has his own welcome-to-the-rivalry ritual in mind for Rodgers.

“Playing Green Bay on Monday night to start the season – that’s everything you want,” Allen said. “Hopefully, I can put my helmet square in the back of his spine. If I can do that and knock the ball loose, it’ll be a good day.”

For what it’s worth, Williams believes the Packers’ decision to choose Rodgers over Favre was a great development for the Vikings.

“They had a nice year last year, but they don’t understand that Brett made those guys better than they were,” Williams said. “He has the game all figured out, and you’ve got to factor all that into the equation. Brett Favre would throw the ball when the receivers hadn’t even made their cut yet, and it would be there waiting for them. Those guys had it good.

“People think it’s the system, but it ain’t no damn system. Brett Favre just knows where his guys are going to be at all times, and I don’t think Aaron Rodgers has got that yet.”

OK, that’s enough Rodgers bashing for today. It’s time for me to take my medicine
I booked a 2008 boat party under Pat William's name. Done Deal. On Lock.
Just make sure you ID any date Mark Chumura hooks you up with for the party.

That way you can avoid any bogus charges brought against you.
I lived in the same neighborhood as Chewy when that whole thing went down. The general sentiment is that the girl made the whole thing up.

You should probably stick to talking about things you are more knowledgeable about.
Ahhh the old he said, she said. Who cares, just like the boat scandall, it's only the public sentiment that matters. So I will continue to bring up the Chewy thing.....over and over, despite not living near him.

No, I don't know/care about the particulars of the Chewy case. Much like you and the Vikings boat scandall. I'm saying, due to public sentiment, an innocent verdict means nothing.

Are you referring to me? I did point out their best players. They have a top 3 player at CB and a top 5 at LT. They could have had a top 3 QB (the most important position) as well.

Source?? Last year he was straight up dazzling. I don't know how you can possibly infer that based on nothing.

He's 39 and wasn't committed in the offseason. He was dazzling last year, but was average in 2006 and bad in 2005. Odds are against him repeating last year. We'll see what he does in New York, and then revisit this issue after the season.

He is consistently great. When the talent around any great player is bad, that player looks bad. If their is one thing we've learned from Favre its that he's consistent. The 39 argument is dumb. He was 38 last year!!! Age is irrelevant. Do you suddenly have a huge drop off from 38 to 39?!? Why limit it to recent history when Favre has shown that he is an ageless wonder? He has been great to spectacular 12 of the last 13 years. The one when he was average was when our talent was the poorest in the NFL.

you gotta be kidding me. the one factor that keeps Favre from being considered one of the all-time bests (in many peoples minds) is that he layed so many eggs in big games. Favre has been very inconsistenet in the playoffs. Compare him to Montana.

At some point, it will happen. The odds increase every year. The fact he had zero commitment this offseason increase the chances further. He hasn't been great every year. That's just Favre worship. He was bad in 2005. He was bad in 1993. He was average in 2006. He was average in 1999. Favre hasn't played great every year. Favre has nice weapons in New York with Coles, Cotchery, Chris Baker, Thomas Jones, and a talented OL. He should play well in New York. His defense might keep the Jets from winning games, but if he doesn't play well, it's on him.
