Highs and Lows of Preseason Games So Far

I think the biggest low is no running plays. I would think we would want to open up the pass by running the ball.

It's a new strategy. We're going to open up the pass, by passing. The RB is going the way of the fullback... They're both going to block, along with the TE, to give ARod 3 seconds instead of 2 to get rid of the ball.

Oh I thought we were going to run the run n shoot this year. No TE no RB just hike and quick slant...

Seriously has anyone done the breakdown pass vs run plays? Just wondering.

I DVR'd the game to do just that, but, I watched it live from a relative's house and it was so painful the first time, I'm thinking about just deleting it.

I don't care what has happened to this point in camp, as long as they've learned from the lows and build off of it. What would help (obviously) is getting some principles back at their respective positions and being able to play with sets that will closely resemble the regular season starters. I'm hoping for very balanced performances the next two games instead of big deficiencies at one position or another. If all we can come back with after the Denver game is how good Jordy Nelson looked returning kicks, then not much has been built upon from the San Fran game. That said, pre-season could all be a much ado about nothing. If they were blowing teams out or losing big, it might not mean much. If they have enough healthy bodies to do evaluations and run personnel sets they want to run, that would be most beneficial, regardless of the outcome.

I was thinking they may have to go to that inverted wish bone formation and keep eveybody in to block to get a little pass pro going.

The highlight of the preseason so far has been that I went on a real, actual date with a woman I kinda like.

Positives: WR corp, Crosby, ST returns and Rouse.

Negatives: Injuries, OL, DL sans Kampy, nickelbacks, RBs and the MIA commitment to running the ball. Bonus negative: not too much positive to report.

Limbo: QBs, ST coverage, LBs, and mental health of the team. Limbo bonus: not winning, even if it's preseason - gotta want to win as winning breeds winning.

Positives: Nelson the perfect token White WR, Jones filling in for Jennings nicely, Jackson carrying the load, Rouse making the coaches look biased for Collins, Lumkpins, Al and Chuck still looking shutdown.

Negatives: M3's messed up play calling, OL gonna get ARod killed, DL gonna let every no name QB have a career day, Grant shoulda got his ass to camp earlier, Bush getting scorched by a rookie 6th rounder, Ryan looking shaky on punts still.

Besides, how is our O-Line much different than last year when GB was #1 in the league in QB Sack % with Favre getting sacked 15 times in 650 plus attempts and Arod 4 times in 32 attempts. (For the mathematically challenged that's 1 in 45 dropbacks vs. 1 in 8...and this preseason doesn't lie).

Those stats are far from fair. Most of Arods snaps came in the Dallas game where Favre's sack to attempt in that game was only 1 in 14. Plus, Favre probably should have taken some sacks instead of throwing a few of his passes into coverage.
