A 17 month suspension seems pretty tough to me given the average length of football careers. Tags never would have done this. My guess is that Pacman gets a lifetime ban if he screws up again. I think the message has been sent - loud and clear.

It's true, whether you believe it or not. Adam Jones will be an active member on the Cowboys 53 man roster this year. And if Jones has in fact kept his nose clean and met each of the conditions laid out to him by Goodell required for reinstatement, the league would be stupid NOT to reinstate him. Can you imagine the precedent that would set? "Here's what you need to do to get back into the league, but even if you meet all these criteria, we still won't let you back." Goodell didn't ban him for life when he was getting into trouble, so I don't see what the problem is in reinstating him now that he isn't getting into trouble.

Besides, Jones must know that anything more than a parking ticket could amount to a lifetime ban from the NFL. If he really wants to play football in the NFL, he isn't about to fuck up again. I don't have a problem with him being reinstated.
