The Mike Sherman era got off to a bad start yesterday when Texas A&M lost at home to Arkansas State. Looks like he's feeling the heat already......
MIKE SHERMAN IN TROUBLE AFTER ONE GAME

If the Texas A&M fans I’ve heard from are any indication, most folks in College Station would be happy to see new coach Mike Sherman fired after one game leading the Aggies.
Of course, when that one game is an 18-14 loss to Arkansas State at Kyle Field, it’s not exactly a surprise that the natives are getting restless.
“This is a game you expect Texas A&M to win, and that’s not taking anything away from Arkansas State,” Sherman said shortly after the Aggies lost their home opener for the first time in two decades. “They did a phenomenal job, and I give them all the credit in the world. But we were at home, and we expected to beat them.”
Last year Arkansas State gave Texas a much tougher test than anyone expected in the opener, losing 21-13 and keeping it competitive for four quarters in a game the Longhorns thought would just be an easy tuneup. So the Aggies should have been ready for a fight. They weren’t.
Dennis Franchione was never the most popular guy at Texas A&M, and fans were plenty ready to wish him good riddance after last season’s 7-5 record. But Sherman doesn’t look like he’s going to get close to seven wins this year.
