Check the replay, it popped out when he it the ground......doesn't matter if he was hit.

I thought the rule was you have to hold onto the ball throughout... If he didn't technically have posession before hitting the ground then the ground-can't-cause-a-fumble rule doesn't apply. Seeing as how it was ruled incomplete, I don't think he technically had possession thus had to hold onto the ball even after hitting the ground. I don't think this will be overturned.

Play is designed like that so line and everyone else sells run so the LBs and Safeties stay out of the way.

Radio explaining it was a run/pass option and only Driver and ROdgers knew it was a pass, Moll was moving out to run block. Possibly not his fault.

How do you sell it without getting penalized? How far down field can you go?

That's what I thought. He didn't have possession thus he has to control the ball throughout, even after hitting the ground.
