    what the hell is it?

I noticed that Lumpy got all the carries in practice this week. I was surprised that DeShawn Wynn didn't relieve him some.

Does the practice squad practice with the team? Do they attend meetings? Do they learn the playbook? Do they drive taxis during the week?

Practice squad players practice alongside regular roster players during the week, but they are not allowed to play in actual games. They can be paid considerably less than active squad players: the minimum salary from 2008 to 2010 is $5,200 per week (2008-2010) for 17 weeks, or $88,400 per season, in comparison to the NFL minimum rookie salary of $285,000. (Some practice squad players are paid considerably more, however: in 2006, the New England Patriots paid third-year player Billy Yates the full $425,000 he would have earned on the active roster.)[2]They are also ineligible for many fringe benefits such as service time, pensions, and the like. They hope to be promoted to the active roster either by their current team, or by another team who is scouting them. They retain free agent status and may sign with any team they wish without compensation to the original team.

Anybody got info or a link as to who is on the Packers practice squad? This was such big news a week or two before the season. Lately, there hasn't been much--until the word about Wynn being on it. I'm glad we didn't lose him completely, as he still could amount to something.

Lansanah looks like the best of the bunch. maybe Wynn someday. And Malone could get a call, ready or not.

              Thanks, Vince.

Several on there I'm glad they have: Wynn, Haynos, Allen, Malone, and maybe Swain.

I would expect that Wynn gets reps as part of the scout team, since the limited number of reps for the real offense need to go to players who could possibly play this week.

What strikes me is that ALL of our practice squad players spent time in training camp. We don't have a single player from another team's roster.

                  Depth....thanks, TT.

I think haynos has the best shot at becoming an NFL starter, jmo for what its worth.

Wynn is garbage. We've had success in the past with these guys as I see J. Allen maybe being next year's Ruvell maybe. Haynos looked like a deece #3 TE. Lansanah looked the man-beast to replace Chillar next year. Malone can't do any worst than C. Cole (he make 1.5 million for what?).

I thought Porter did some nice things in the Preseason as well. I really like this practice squad, as far as practice squads go. Its nice to have some familiar guys to pull from in case of injury.
