    Packers Sign Draft Pick Tollefson

    posted 06/23/2006

Finalizing contract terms with a 2006 draft choice for the first time this off season, the Green Bay Packers Friday signed defensive end Dave Tollefson. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing.

Tollefson, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound player from Northwest Missouri State, was the last of a league-high 12 players selected by the Packers in the April draft, a seventh-round, compensatory choice (253rd overall).

A Division II All-American and a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman among small schools, he registered 121/2 sacks in 2005, breaking his school's single-season record. He played just two seasons of college football, and in 26 games, he posted 106 tackles (57 solo), 291/2 tackles for loss, 21 sacks and six passes broken up.

Northwest Missouri State Uni. is over in my neck of the woods. I was over there this morning and asked a couple of guys what they thought of the Pack picking him. Seems we have alot of new Packer fans since he was picked. I hope he makes the team. Even as a back up and S/T player. I told the guys to check out PackerRats.com

Can you say Aaron Kampman? He needs to put on some poundage though.

Maybe we will see him move on the QB from the edge more this season as he certainly looks lean, and should be strong (in condition) after all his hard work in this off season. Here's hoping!

            well, Division II football.

But he has good size, and knows how to play football. Sounds like a good pick.
