I still think he can get healthy and push as hard as anyone else for the 3rd WR spot.
Jones has dropped a lot of balls since the middle of last year. The Sharpe comparisons were ridiculous. Sharpe couldn't run a 4.3, but he had game speed. People didn't catch him from behind much. Jones fumbled another time last year, I vaguely remember him fumbling this preseason, and there were camp reports that he was fumbling a lot. He's fine as a #3 receiver, but my point is that I don't think he'll ever be somebody you'd be happy with starting.
The 2nd half of last year he was quiet but the 1st half of last year he was great. Yes the Sharpe comparisons are an exaggeration. I'm not trying to take away anything from Jordy who has also had a solid half season for us but I don't see what makes him all that much better than Jones or even Martin. All of them are fine as a #3. Its a really good group and I think any of them could eventually be somebody I'd be happy with starting. Of the lot wouldn't you say Jones has the best highlight reel?

With Jones being hurt this year, it's hard to get a read on where he's at. I liked him when he played last year and his preseason catch vs Cincy was legendary.

I tend to agree with Harv that I look at him as more of a #3 WR. With that said, I also look at Jordy as a #3 as well right now. They both need more work and more game experience for us to see how they may be as a #2 in the future.

I thought he be a slight developmental pick. Jones is pretty darn good as a 4th WR though, and Ruvell isn't bad for a 5th WR.
I think he can be a solid possession type starter...almost a poor mans keyshawn johnson. He is a horse who can catch that 3rd and 4 in traffic...that is of course if the drops are temporary and caused partly by his injuries.

              What Falco said.

If I am TT, this is priority #1. Give him a raise this year already and pay the man. There can be no doubt that Jennings is quality.

People put too much value on speed...I swear to god its nice to have, but not a necessity...does he turn his routes at the right depth and cut them off hard?? Then he can be a starter. I didn't see anyone in the denver secondary catching him from behind.

With all due respect, I completely disagree.

I never played American Football. I played Rugby. I was a tough as nails hooker. Ask KY what that is. We call it "The Engine Room".

At any rate, in Rugby, you have forwards and backs. The backs are the speed guys. I remeber playing against an Aborigine centre (a back) named Jackie. I captained my team. Every time Jackie got the ball, he outran our entire defense. We got absolutely slaughtered. His speed had to be seen to be believed.

I have seen first hand what speed means. KY, any words on this?

No, I know what a hooker is in Rugby.

I'm not saying its not a big bonus, I'm saying people put too much weight on it. The difference between a 4.4 and 4.6 is near negligable in a 7 yard out...but did he run it at 8 yards and throw off the timing? Did he do a lazy cut and let the corner read the route? Did he get jammed at the line and not complete the route before the QB got hit?

Yes, its better if all things are equal to be faster, but people talk about speed as the be all end all. After the Jones draft everyone on the JS boards were so high on Clowney and down on JJ just cuz of 40 times.....guess where that 4.3 got clowney!!!

One last point. I ran about a 4.55 in my prime....does that mean I could play corner in the NFL? Hell no, my hips are too stiff and I'm only 5'9". There are so many factors that go into being a player that a guys speed is damn near irrelevant as a sole stat....If JJ were too slow to ever have a shot at being a starter why is he on our roster? A second year player without starter talent...that is also known as the cut squad.

I read earlier in the season that Jennings doesn't want a new contract right now. He wants to see how the year plays out first and how much he can get on the open market first.
