Jolly indicted on Texas drug charges

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly has been indicted by a grand jury for drug possession.

Jolly, 25, a Houston native, was arrested there July 8 for possession of at least 200 grams of codeine.

The Harris County grand jury recently found there was enough probable cause to go forward with the case, said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Donna Hawkins.

The indictment, a statement of charges, did not include any new details of the case. It is similar to the criminal complaint stage in a Wisconsin felony case.

Jolly posted $10,000 bond on July 8 and was not held, but has been ordered to submit weekly, random urinalysis for drug monitoring and has been given a curfew of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Jolly is expected to appear in Harris County court Tuesday.

Jolly was excused from practice Monday for “personal reasons,” said Packers spokesman Aaron Popkey, adding that the team is aware of the indictment. Players have Tuesday off from practice.

Hawkins said Jolly can plead guilty, ask that his case be set for trial or request more time to make a decision.

Hopefully we can get through this year before he serves any suspension. We can't afford to lose him right now.

Innocent until proven guilty but you never know with Goodell two shoes. He could send him back to Texas early.

Damn, I was big C.Hunt fan for a bit there.

In fact, everybody thought signing Hunt and letting Vonnie Holiday go was a GOOD idea.

Maybe not everybody, just the people who aren't liars.

He was always in shape. Just the wrong shape.

Does Texas law require you take diuretics to clear the codein from your system?

Where are you in that hierarchy, blue puppy?

The charges against Jolly are totally chickenshit. 3 guys had a bottle of "purple drank" in a car with a small amount of weed. That not going to get you the "man of the year' award, but it's hardly a felony drug beef. Houston is such a neck town. Lots of cops would make 'em dump the purple and bust the driver for the weed on a misdemeanor.

That's a small pinch, these guys are acting like it's the French Connection or something.

Get on the Justin Harrell bandwagon now. And the Cole Train. Good thing Cole has been our most consistent DL.
