One more time, the BCS standings was a tiebreaker set by ...THE BIG 12!!!! The Big 12 is at fault, NOT THE BCS.
True, but if the BCS didn't require one team and one team only from the Big 12 to participate in the championship process nobody would really care.
If the Big 12 arbitrarily picked OU to play in the conference title game, but all three were headed to an 8 team playoff nobody would care about the Big 12 title.
Just like nobody cares who wins the major conference hoops tournaments. The top several teams are going to the NCAA anyway, all you're really doing is tweaking the seedings unless a cinderella team wins it. The point is, the hoops tourneys are far less important because there's no chance of eliminating a legit title contender.
But heres the other side tyo that. If Missorui lays the smakdown on OU, Texas could benefit by not being in the title game. Texas could jump to #2. That is all that is required to get to the BCS title game. It doesn't matter if you are in the conference championship game or not. This has happened before.

None of which makes the BCS more sensible. The only justifcation for taking Texas over Tech in this scenario is voter preference. It was about voter preference before the BCS, and buried behind a facade of complicated formulas, it still is.
