  • Second Half Offensive Breakdown

    This is offensive scoring only.

    Week 1: Minnesota
20 points given up - 7 points scored

    Week 2: Detroit
16 points given up - 6 points scored

    Week 3: Dallas
14 points given up - 10 points scored
Though 7 of these point should not count as they were garbage time points and MM decided to take his time going down the field despite down big. Remember, we were all pissed about this. But, for the sake of logistics I will keep it up here.

    Week 4: Tampa Bay
7 points given up - 7 points scored.
The offense fumbled the ball and had it returned for a touchdown. Our defense had three huge picks, though, including one for a touchdown.

    Week 5: Atlanta
10 points given up - 17 points scored.
First game they outscored the oppositon in the fourth quarter, though one of the touchdowns was in garbage time when ATL was up big and shouldn't count.

    Week 6: Seattle
7 points given up - 17 points scored
    A weak opponent

    Week 7: Indy
7 points given up - 3 points scored
Our defense had two INTs for touchdowns after long Indy drives and a blocked field goal in the second half

    Week 9: Tennessee
6 points given up - 6 points scored

    Week 10: Minnesota
14 points given up - 3 points scored

    Week 11: Chicago
0 points given up - 13 points scored
    This was an aboslute blowout

    Week 12: New Orleans
28 points given up - 7 points scored

    Week 13: Carolina
14 points given up - 20 points scored

    Week 14: Texans
13 points given up - 14 points scored

    Week 15: Jacksonville
13 points given up - 3 points scored

Average points scored in a second half: 9.5
Average points scored per game based on second half: 19

    Clearly, the offense is struggling.

I know. I almost didn't include that because I want to keep that for a second breakdown, but I'm lazy and figured someone could decipher something out of it.

I don't think it says too much honestly.

They're giving up 11.14 in the second half.

I've never seen an offense perform so far below their numbers. And you are right, the second half has been worse. The most astonishing number is red zone success which, even after this game, we will somehow be top ten in, despite tremendous struggles. Part of that is perception. We have been awful from the opponents 45 in as well as red zone.

But I still hang most of this on the D. They have yet to fail to give up a lead in a close game. I am still perplexed by the range of factors. When we played zone today half the backfield either didn't know their assignment or if you were Al Harris, you were playing a one man zone.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

          Damn is that for real.
I've seen you harpin about this for a few weeks now, but to see it broke down by game is insane. The offense does need to start showing up and putting more points on the board(esp. with all the talent on that side of the ball)
