  • Best Roster of Former Packers still in NFL

Give me some help on this. I'm short a few positions, and I'm sure I have overlooked someone. I am trying to put together the best roster I can of former Packers still in the NFL. Being on IR counts, being "cut" by another team does not. Any player at one time under contract to GB is OK, even if they did not make a regular season roster.

I know the numbers below add up to over 53, but we can "finalize" the roster later.

I will revise this posting as we go along:

    (3) QBs - I. Martin, Nall, O'Sullivan (or should we go with Favre, Hasselbeck, Warner? )
    (3) RBs - Green, Davenport, Herron (Add: Pope)
    (2) FBs - Leach
    (5) WRs - Walker, Robinson, Chatman (add: Clowney; delete Ferguson)
    (3) TEs - Martin, Franks (add: Haynos)
    (4) OTs - Simms, Stokes, Toledo
    (4) OGs - Wahle, Rueggamer, Murray
    (2) Cs - White

    (5) DEs - Tollefson, Bowens, Cochran, Holliday, Peterson
    (5) DTs - Williams, Allen, Jackson, Sands, Muir
    (6) LBS - Diggs, Lenon, Hillenmeyer, Hodge, Curry, Orr (Alternate: Thomas)
    (5) CBs - McKenzie, Carroll, Thomas, Walker, Johnson
    (4) S 's - Sharper, Roman, Culver (add: Manual)

    (K) - Longwell
    (P) - Bidwell/Hentrich/Ryan (add: Turk, Hanson)
    (R) - Rossum

    (ST specialist) - Tracy White

    I think Ferguson got cut.

Other than that, I can't think of anything to add. Except maybe Haynos, who caught a TD this past weekend.

Yech. By and large, I'm rather glad none of those guys are still on the team.
      Who would you want?
Holliday might have one year left in him. Bowens maybe. Corey Williams at a cheaper price, and last year's playing weight.
Franks would run the right goal line play. Slowly.
None of the O-line, linebackers or D-backs.

Also, isn't Gado back in the league?

          He has been released again.

I meant to add Clowney and Haynos, thanks.
I had Thomas, but scratched him off in favor of the 6 on there now. He was being cut and re-signed every few eeks for a while, but is now on IR. Who would you remove from my list to add Thomas?

When did that happen? I hadn't heard but I see NFL.com lists him as "Cut".

I wonder if Bretsky has heard?

Probably "Orr" because I'm drawing a blank on that name. When did an Orr ever play for or sign with the Pack? But I agree that whoever he is, he couldn't get much more anonymous than Robert Thomas has been in his post-Packer career. So I don't care, take your pick, either Orr so to speak, it doesn't matter to me.

Shantee Orr was an undrafted free agent rookie signing by GB out of MI. Has played in Houston, Jacksonville and now Cleveland. Started for a while in Houston but now is a backup/ST guy. Nothing significant as a player, but continues to get a paycheck via the NFL anyway!

                    Matt Turk the Texans punter

'93 practice squadder. He's from Greenfield WI

Before the Pack, he played for the Racine Raiders.

Added. Thanks KY, I forgot all about him.

I figured one was enough, but if we're collecting punters, how bout Chris Hanson?

One is enough, just not sure which one. All are better than the one they went into Game #1 with this year! Turk and Hentrich have started to show their age. Bidwell isn't bad.

When was Hanson with the Packers?

1999. Punted a total of four times.

And here's one easy to overlook: PJ Pope. I just might take him over the often injured and expensive Ahman Green.

Green took a massive pay cut. Making the minimum plus incentives. I'm sure he didn't make any incentives with Slaton's emergence.
