Actually I've heard they are ditching the purple all together. I live in the Twin Cities and I was able to come across some top secret images of the new uniforms from the Winter Park office. SEE BELOW:

NEW VIKINGS JERSEYS ARE UGLY

A reader has sent to us various images of the new Vikings jerseys, which are scheduled to be unveiled on Thursday afternoon. Here's a look-see at the shirts to be worn by quarterback Brad Johnson.



It appears that the organization has ditched the profile of Hulk Hogan in a horn hat from the sleeves, relegating the Hulkster to the back of the jersey, just under the collar.

We think the new shirts are ugly. The yellow collar on the home jersey stands out too much, and the old yellow and purple shoulder stripes on the away shirts (a la LSU and UCLA) should have been retained.

Another new feature for the Vikings this year will be purple pants. Also, many observers expect the helmet logo to incorporate the more three-dimensional horn that currently appears on the front page of the Vikings' web site.

Well I just think they are asking for it. The North is a division of old storied teams, with old storied uni's......not Arena ball ones. i even read that Ziggy wants to chagne the logo on the helmet....I, personally, maybe i'm young,but i'm old school, and just don't like the new look. too Arizona to me. i donno. doesn't fit the NFC North to me.
